I rate this to be the best indonesian restaurant in Sydney. Do not expect a posh restaurant. However, the grilled chicken and the value for money makes up for it. My friends and I can't get enough of the food they serve there. We just keep wanting to go back for more.
Everything I've tried here do not disappoint. They remind me of the food I can get at best eating places in Jakarta, or better! My favourite includes chicken satay, fried bee hoon, grilled chicken, kangkung and sayur asem (it'll be better if they can give more ingredients inside though!). If you miss Indonesian food, this is the place to go!
Ayam goreng 99. This is an indonesian restaurant that everyone should have a try! I don't really agree with some comments below which stated that the chicken is overcooked and burnt! The taste of ayam bakar in this restaurant was really really delicious compared to the grilled chicken that I've ever found here. Its taste was sweet and perfect cooked. Just have a try first and read overall comment so that you can give them your scoring!
Come here for the grilled and fried chicken. Not much ambience and service is basically help yourself. Food is great and very cheap, which will keep me coming back.
Have eaten here a few times but, perhaps, won't bother again, it's just not that great. Lamb satay with rice cakes were good, $10 though for 4 tiny satay, you need the rice cake to fill up. Chicken friend breast ($5.50- their specialty) was too dry, we had 2 different types/flavours but both tasted the same. Soto Ayam was ok but there's better around.
The best Indonesian food in Sydney. We go there at least twice a month and order pretty much the same things. We are happy with grill chicken breast, grill chicken leg, deep fried tofu, grill mushroom wrapped in banana leaf, 2 rice, and eat them with the generous homemade burning chili.
Service is a hit-and-miss affair at this place but it's much faster if you do self-service. Make sure you check out the menu properly, write your order down on the given notepad and won't be long until your food arrives.
Restaurant's interior is also quite run down but still reasonably clean. After all, people come here for the cheap delicious BBQ chicken and their extra hot sambal!
Ayam Goreng has been around for a very long time and its packed out restaurant is a testament to its popularity with uni students and diners on a budget.
