First time going to Ayam Goreng and I was a little underwhelmed, not a very large menu. One side looked like all soups and the other were cooked meals. Had the ayam bakar, very dry, satay sticks-had too much watered down peanut butter on top it was swimming in it and the egg noodles were really nice and plenty of it. Decor not much to talk about. Overall, a really cheap eat but come early to avoid the crowds.

The food is so delicious that the decor doesn't matter and its not so terrible in any case. Ok, so the lighting is a little...stark. Service was friendly and quick. Chicken is tender and moist and sauce is smokey and rich. Everything was so good. On-choy and anchovies in banana leaf also worth going back for.

Great food but the downside are the ambience and service. Always full and the decoration not that great. Service is poor as only have two people serving and one at the cash register. Overall good experience though. Ayam bakar (grilled chicken) is to die for.

I have been here plenty of times. If you need to try out the authentic grilled (Bakar)/fried (Goreng) chicken from Indonesia, this is the place to go. Original, spicy homemade Terasi (chilli sauce), and try to eat the chicken with the coconut rice. Their prices are very reasonable.

Place isn’t fancy at all – small and always packed. People do queue for long because it’s worth it, but if you’re too hungry, call them for take away, which what I always do.

Nice food ayam bakar. We can't find this type of ayam bakar in anywhere. This is the best one. Chili is spicy and delicious. Love this much.

Ayam Goreng 99. I just love their Ayam! My favourite is Ayam Bakar (Grilled Chicken) although their Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) and Ayam Kalasan (Javanese Fried Chicken) are nice as well. Their Beef Rendang is yummy as well (it's cheap and the portion of rendang is tiny but oh-so-flavourful). And their Sambal Terasi is so spicy but it's my favourite sambal ever!

Didn't really care about the ambience and service, but it was absolutely great value. Although the only thing I dislike about the place is the seatings. When they are very busy and you only dine with 2-3 people, they will sit you on a communal table, shared with another group of 2-3 people. One time, I almost wanted to argue with a lady because she did not want to stand up for me when I wanted to get out of the table when we finished eating! Silly lady!

The food here is good authentic indonesian. The chicken is great most times, although on the rare occasion it can be a tad dry. The chili sauce is fantastic. The service is mediocre, but it is a student's hangout where the wait staff are probably paid only $5 per hour! The ambience, well it feels like you are in Jakarta. Menu prices aren't too bad.

Summary: Come here for decently priced authentic indonesian food in a place that makes you feel like you are in a typical cafe in Jakarta.

Soto babat was good usual, thats normally what I come for, had satay chicken and was it so disgusting and disappointing, and it tasted horrible, looked like blended peanut butter thats for sure, the kangkung wasn't as nice as it normally is, and price has gone up as well as not tasting as good.

To top it off, we bought 5 containers of soto babat to go and ask for some chili and gave us a little tiny drop of it and said we had to buy some. The whole experience was horrible and the waitress kept watching us eat the whole night and the first thing she took from the table was not to clear the plates but she took the chili bowl to take to the back, which it thought was hilarious and odd. I call that place the chilli natzi cos it was the 2nd incident they were quite stingy with their chilli.. damn!

Great food and definitely want you to come back, it just the services are very bad and rude, not a great place to meet up friends (you come to this place just to eat basically) and place is quite dirty.

We went to Ayam Goreng for simple Indo dinner. The satay sticks were really good. It is as authentic as you can get as they were BBQ on chacoal. The Ayam and Lamb satey sticks were really good. I had the grilled chickeng thigh - not bad but a tad dry. The stir fry kangkung vegetable was nice. We had the banana leaves wrapped anchovies - it was quite nice as well. The stand out if obviously the satay sticks. It's all good - except for the charred bits (which is supposed to be a nice good stuff which is delicious to eat) but it is bad for you if you eat too much of it.
