The worst take away fish and chips Ever drenched in oil, hardly any fish, tasteless and the staff completely arrogant and rude when I complained about it. Save your money, you get better quality and value at McDonalds.
The maitre d' was awful, the rudest man I have ever encountered. After reading other reviews I realise that he wasn't having a "bad" day, seems that is what he is always like. Arrogant and condescending to the staff and customers. Can't comment on food as we were so uncomfortable we cancelled our drinks and left.
What an extremely disappointing experience this Cafe was. The staff & management are arrogant and rude & the food is dreadful. I will never be back and would never recommend this cafe to anyone every. I can't believe they are still in business!
We were sat near the door to the kitchen and told we would be moved in a few minutes to the window, they forgot! Our champagne arrived it was flat. Our meal order took over 45 minutes, other tables arriving after us had eaten and gone! My order of jewfish was hard as rock due to overcooking. I was asked if I wanted anything else but was not offered a menu. They then had the hide to charge us for the uneaten meal which I alerted the waiter to within minutes of it being put in front of me. Plus they added a 15% surcharge for service on a Public Holiday!
Shocking service seems to be the goal this restaurant is striving for, and with the concerted efforts of the senior staff I would say they have achieved their goal admirably. We went there for lunch and whilst the views and setting are very nice the food, service and prices are in stark contrast. I will not be going back, thanks in no small part to the senior staff who has a paradoxical talent for being both rude and indifferent at the same time.
Shocking service and attitude towards the customer. We are there for brunch. Lovely day and the cafe was packed, however, they were grossly understaffed and on top of that very rude especially the gentleman in charge. Meals were long time coming, were cold (toast) coffees were made wrongly and to top it all off the bill was just plonked on the table as a sign for us to get lost. Never again!
We walked in for breakfast and were immediately snapped at by the senior staff simply for asking for a seat. We should have walked out then and there.
When he was ready, he finally prepared a table but was sure to express he was reluctant to do so. Another waiter came to take the order and was disappointingly just as cold. We waited 30 minutes for the cooked meals and a further 10 minutes for a bowl of muesli. The waiter scorned when he fumbled a teapot, spilling tea leaves all over the table. To end the whole awful experience, we approached the counter to pay and were told to go and sit back down and wait for the bill.
The food is quite nice but did nothing to disguise the bitter taste left from the arrogant and rude senior staff service. I would definitely not recommend trying this place as it seems if you're not a regular-you are not welcome. You can eat just as well and experience the same beautiful view down the road.
A note on the ambience: very, very noisy but stunning views of Balmoral beach in an elegant restaurant. The food was very good, salmon, barramundi and steak dishes all very tasty. Simple food done superbly. Service was attentive and diligent but not intrusive. A close to perfect lunch experience.
I'm glad I hadn't read the reviews before going. No sign of the maitre d' on our visit. We received friendly service, however, $25 for a salad was way too much. We both ordered salad and the main star of the dish, salt and pepper squid and chicken, were in very short supply and the dressing drowned the vegetables. These salads by the way were our second choices, as two of the specials of the day weren't available. Won't be rushing back.
Love this local cafe - way better than the reviews here suggest. Only downside - it can get noisy. Otherwise charming place with great food and service.
