I eat lunch here often but the poached chicken sandwich is so delicious and such good value I don't ever order anything else! Staff are always friendly and polite, service is usually prompt and tea is tea leaves in a large pot, fabulous! Only gripe is the outside tables are too close together and music inside can get a bit loud.

Avenue Road serves a fantastic breakfast & lunch at very reasonable prices. You can't go past the croque monsier special and mashed avo & fetta on toast for breakfast.

The place has a wonderful vibe about it but the noise from Avenue Road and the bus stop opposite can be a bit much. Shame they don't have more space inside as sitting outside under the heaters is pretty average in winter.

The place is always really busy often with a queue for a table - always a good indicator. We'll be back.

What a great place for breakfast. The food was fresh, special requests were catered for and the tea came in a neat pot with real leaves. Just as important, the staf were really friendly and professional. The cafe was buzzing and we will go back again and again.

Best cafe outside the Eastern Suburbs. Service is delightful. Worth waiting for a spot outside. Go and try it.

I and 2 friends lunched here on November 9. Two had the rocket salad with ocean trout and goats curd and we both thought it a ripoff @ $19.00. What we got was a pasta bowl overflowing with rocket, 4/5 halves of mini cherry tomatoes, about 10 miniscule strips of marinated capsicum, 2 tiny splodges of goats curd and 5 wafer-thin strips of ocean trout 2-3cms long. All up the rocket accounted for 90% of the dish, ok for rabbits but .... We won't be back for lunch.

There are often line up's here waiting for a seat, especially for breakfast on a weekend, as a testament to the good coffee and food.

Had breakfast at Avenue Road Cafe here after walking out of Arena's Deli Cafe because of bad service, bad coffee and dirty tables. Thanks goodness we did because Avenue Road Cafe was great. Why go anywhere else, we certainly won't be!

I am seriously having wet-dreams about this cafe's roast pork sandwich. Roasted pork w crackling (thinly sliced) on lightly toasted sourdough with rocket, a scrape of aioli and an amazing apple and mint chutney.

So it took a little time to get our order in (8 minutes) and a little more to get served (12 or so) but the results were amazing! I wish they had just done big platters of this at my wedding. My friend had a poached chicken sambo which she squealed with delight at at each mouthful. Even my 5 year old was pleased. Am sooo coming back.

Nice atmosphere. Female waitstaff are unfriendly. Coffee is good. Food is mediocre compared to the price. Big breakfast was not bad, the house-cured ocean trout benedict was disappointing with the hollandaise sauce leaving an awful after taste of vinegar.

Food is always good and as long as the guys are serving you, it is efficient and friendly. Please, can we have sharp knives! Even getting through a slice of sourdough was a struggle. Lovely favourite and they're friendly toward children bringing little golden books as soon as you sit down.
