Took some interstate friends here on Sunday. The pizzas are tasty and loaded with toppings and are reasonably priced. The bar staff and our waitress were very friendly. They also have Beez Neez beer on tap, so I was happy about that. It's a fab little pub with a laid back kind of atmoshpere and they don't rush you. Recommended for a lazy afternoon with friends.
$27 got me 2 glasses of yellow 6.5, a bottle of mineral water and a pint of James Squires Amber Ale. Working on the pint being $8 I thought that a bottle of mineral water being $6 somewhat outrageous.
I've been here quite a few times with my family and friends. It's a great old pub that has a large number of beers on tap and also very good food. You can sit either inside or outside, and there are one or two small private rooms inside that are quite cosy. It's also good that the poker machine area is small and tucked away. My only gripe is with the prices of both the food and drink, it makes London pubs look cheap.
Went here for a work dinner, and it was paid for, so I can't really comment too much on the prices of both food and drink. I agree with what others have said about the pizza's having too much topping on them, but they were nice. Couldn't get the drink I wanted (smirnoff double black in lemon, not cola) so that was a bit annoying, but I think my beer-drinking friends enjoyed their's. Probably won't go back again.
Its pretty strange seeing an aussie pub serving pizza, although they were very good. The food here was of a very high standard. My pizza was packed with a tasty combination of delicious toppings, really good quality. Another wonderful part of the pub are it's surroundings. You can see preserved shops and houses from centuries ago all around you. The service and value were both also good. I would highly recommend the Australian Heritage Hotel.
The roast duck pizza is the highlight of lunch at this establishment - it's just a pity the bases are so bready!! Other pizzas are good but not as good, and the salads are tasty but nothing innovative. Good for a nice casual lunch if you are after that kind of thing.
An establishment that I have been frequenting for a number of years now and I even made a point of going there the day I became an Australian citizen. The historic feel of the pub is still vibrant, the beer menu remains almost unequalled and the food is still great, but I doubt if I will ever go back after the disgraceful, churlish and downright arrogant nature of the bar staff.
The women working were truly two of the most obnoxious people I have ever met and it really was service with a snarl. Do yourselves a favour guys and get some new staff or more of us will not be returning. They have also done away with pints.
