Went here for a work dinner, and it was paid for, so I can't really comment too much on the prices of both food and drink. I agree with what others have said about the pizza's having too much topping on them, but they were nice. Couldn't get the drink I wanted (smirnoff double black in lemon, not cola) so that was a bit annoying, but I think my beer-drinking friends enjoyed their's. Probably won't go back again.
Its pretty strange seeing an aussie pub serving pizza, although they were very good. The food here was of a very high standard. My pizza was packed with a tasty combination of delicious toppings, really good quality. Another wonderful part of the pub are it's surroundings. You can see preserved shops and houses from centuries ago all around you. The service and value were both also good. I would highly recommend the Australian Heritage Hotel.
The roast duck pizza is the highlight of lunch at this establishment - it's just a pity the bases are so bready!! Other pizzas are good but not as good, and the salads are tasty but nothing innovative. Good for a nice casual lunch if you are after that kind of thing.
An establishment that I have been frequenting for a number of years now and I even made a point of going there the day I became an Australian citizen. The historic feel of the pub is still vibrant, the beer menu remains almost unequalled and the food is still great, but I doubt if I will ever go back after the disgraceful, churlish and downright arrogant nature of the bar staff.
The women working were truly two of the most obnoxious people I have ever met and it really was service with a snarl. Do yourselves a favour guys and get some new staff or more of us will not be returning. They have also done away with pints.
Came here on a weekday lunch. It's a traditional pub, lots of beers and pizza available. The roast duck pizza was delicious, I wish our table had ordered two of those pizzas! All the other pizzas were fairly average. Tandoori chicken pizza was loaded with chicken topping, which is fairly generous, but making it somewhat hard to eat. And vegetarian pizza is just lacking something, meat, probably. (serves us right for catering for the vegos in our group!). In short, definitely go for the duck pizza if you visit there.
This hotel has some great Australian beers on tap, (Little Creatures Pale Ale, Scharers lager etc..) and hosts an awesome Australian beer festival each year. The pizza is tasty also, try the roasted duck or seafood devil. I will be back for sure.
This place seems to have become a little big for its boots. The location is great, and the pub is charming, but the food has decreased in quality, but increased in price over the years. There are some interesting pizzas (eg crocodile, kangaroo) but they are let down by being overly bready. Beers are the high point, they have a really extensive selection, but again a little bit pricey.
Went along one Saturday as we'd had good reports from friends. It was ok, but nothing mind blowing. Pizza's were ok, if a little heavily laden with topping - very hard to eat as a result, and the drinks were ok. Service was a bit disappointing, but it's a pub, so what can you expect? Don't think I'd go out of my way to go back.
