We had gone to this restaurant 11 years ago and went back for sentimental reasons. It has now become a bistro with pub style food and although the courtyard is really nice if you don't smoke you will choke on everyone elses smoke.
We went inside and every time the toilet door opened we could smell strong bleach while we were eating. The food was reasonable but suited to every day eating definitely not special occasion, like it was when we went many years ago. $50 for 2 courses does seem pricey for pub food and service.
We went along when the pub had a band in. Although the restaurant is sectioned off with a glass wall everytime someone opened the door the noise would blast in (was a comfortable level of sound with the door closed) as would a rush of cigarette smoke. Avoid being placed right by the door or the glass wall as you feel you are in a fish bowl with all the pub patrons looking at you.
We went mid-week and there was only one waitress on, which is poor planning as the dinning room was half full and she was also taking bar food orders out.
The food was alright, nothing spectacular but the green salad was nice. There was a few to many fried dishes on the menu for my liking. I had grilled fish which carried the same sauce as the vegetables (obviously from the bain maire and hours old) which would have been ok expect it was very pungent and not that pleasant to eat. It might have been better to keep it to one or the other and let the dinner decide to mix it on the plate.
Overall it was an ok night out and I would consider going there again, but perhaps not on band night or trivia night as that glass wall doesn't provide much sound proofing
