I've been to many Thai restaurants in the past and this one is probably the best. I have never tasted so many nice sauces and the coconut dish actually comes served In the coconut! There is something unique about this place. Atmosphere and service was above average also. Thanks for fitting us in, hope to be back this weekend.

Hi, nitomel,
Thanks for your comments. It is great to have you. It has been a bit over a year since we opened now, and we have a few regular customers, but always love to have new patrons like yourselves who enjoyed our food and service.
The dish you had was the Coconut King Prawn, we use the fresh coconut meat and juice to cook the curry, and it is served inside that coconut.
As you have mentioned, there are many many Thai restaurants in Sydney, to be able to stand out from the crowd, we always strive to do our best.
We shop for the most fresh ingredients, create a comfortable/inviting ambience in the restaurant, ensure quality of the dishes, and think of new dishes so our menu does not get 'boring'. Please look out for the Special board in the restaurant. We also endeavour to provide the best service, attentive but not intrusive.
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Just want to say thanks to the team at Atom Thai for a fantastic dinner on Tuesday night. Friendly, attentive, efficient service despite a packed restaurant. The creative dishes (ting tong, choo chee barra, coconut prawns etc) were tasty and interesting, and they even dimmed the lights for me to set a romantic mood. A dining experience well worth repeating in the future. Cheers guys cop khun krap. Mark.
Response from Management:
Sa wa dee krup, Mark,
Thanks for your kind words. We are very pleased you and your date enjoyed the night. Last night was a bit expectedly busy, sorry if it was a little bit noisy.
Look forward to seeing you again soon, and try some of our new specials.
After reading numerous good reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to check out Atom Thai the other night. I was a little wary coming in; for one, a close friend owns a fantastic Thai restaurant at home, which happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. Secondly, there are so many Thai restaurants down King Street I was afraid it wouldn't stand out.
I was wrong. We had a delicious dinner especially the Ting Tong Beef entree. Our other dishes were also very good, and the service was attentive and friendly. I can't wait to come back and try some other dishes. I have a feeling this will quickly become a restaurant we visit quite often.
Response from Management:
็Hi, Perniks
Thank you so much for your time and effort in providing us your feedback/encouragement.
It is always fantastic to know that our guests enjoy the meal as well as the service. As you mentioned there are soooo many restaurants in this stretch of King Street, we do strive to be the best.
Went with a group of girlfriends so we decided to have the banquet. Food was delicious, could have eaten more though, servings were a little smaller than I had expected. The service was just fantastic could not fault them, very attentive and genuinely interested in knowing that everything was to our liking.
Response from Management:
Hi, Jenine, thank you for your comment and the compliments on various aspects of the night at Atom Thai.
We really appreciate your feedback regarding the serving size.
With banquet, as everyone is sharing, sometimes a most popular dish does not get to go around. However, at Atom Thai, if guests are having a banquet, we usually, almost always, ask the host/hostess of the table if everyone has had enough food, and if not, we are more than happy to provide some extra dish to ensure everyone had plenty of food at no extra cost.
Please, please feel free to let the staff know if your friends/guests would like some more, and we will happily cater for that.
Thanks again for your time, and look forward to seeing you again.
Where else can you be served by very friendly staff, in a delightful environment (I love how they put fresh flowers or candles on each table) and where the food is sensational.
My boyfriend and I live locally and have tried a number of local Thai restaurants but were excited to try Atom and have never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly, courteous and helpful, explaining all the specials and must try dishes! I often find myself forcing the last few bites of my meal down as it would be such a shame to waste it.
The complimentary fruit dessert is also a lovely touch, as is the service with the staff ensuring that you have wine in your glass! We head up to this restaurant every couple of weeks and are greeted with a smile. I was surprised when I ordered home delivery once and the delivery driver remembered me from the week before, you don't get that kind of service from many places I have been too.
The ting tong beef is amazing as is the choo chee curries. We are also fans of the spring rolls, not your standard type; these are made of netted noodles and ooze flavour as well as the black pepper beef. Keep up the great work. A fantastic restaurant.
Update 25/08/08: We headed to Atom again on Saturday night and were not disappointed. Realising that it is gaining in popularity we decided to book! A bottle of wine and some very fine food - a great evening. I just wish I could try the desserts - but I never have any room!
Response from Management:
Dear Nell33,
Thank you for your kind words. As the owner of the Atom Thai, I am so happy that you and your boyfriend enjoy the food and service. It is really an encouragement and motivation for me.
Other than being able to provide the good food and service, I enjoy meeting people as well, the restaurant is more than just a business for me, from when the restaurant started, I have made many friends who came as customers.
What separates Atom Thai to other Thai restaurants in almost every corner of Sydney?? It's authentic, and simply AMAZING! Atom Thai is authentic in its presentation, food and service. It is a benchmark for all Thai restaurants to follow, and it is a testament to its staff.
Ever since discovering Atom Thai earlier this year, it has been a weekly (Thursday night), destination. My boyfriend and I starve ourselves every Thursday 'day' to prepare ourselves for what good food we can fill our stomach with. To not recommend this to any of my friends or to this site is a selfish act.
Must try:
Entree: The signature Thai soup, 'Tom Yum' that every Thai food lover know - Atom Thai's take on 'Tom Yum' is simply one-of-a-kind! Entice your tastebud and try the Clear Seafood Soup (Po Tak). It's a second top-choice.
Main: The Barramundi snapper left me 'Speechless'.
The Ginger Chicken and/or Red Chilli Chicken is Fantastic!
The Massamun Beef Curry is Authentic Thai.
For dessert, the sticky rice pudding with a choice of a number of different ice-creams (try the green-tea or mango flavour) is HEAVEN! If anyone ever hears a somewhat arousing noise when dining on a Thursday night, that would be myself...so watch out!
The staff, from the moment the door opens, will not only make you feel like you've known these guys for a long time, but cater for every single thing you would expect if dining in a five-star restaurant. I have been to Thai restaurants all over Sydney and Melbourne and all the others definitely pales in comparison with this amazing restaurant.
Thank you Atom - I am looking forward to next week, and the next, and the next, and the next, and the next...and the next!
Response from Management:
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so flattered, and happy that you enjoy our food and service.
I have tried most of the Thai restaurants in Newtown and by far this is the best so far. The food is traditional Thai, the service fantastic and great value for money.
Do yourselves a favour at least try it out.
Response from Management:
ขอบคุณครับ (Thank you in Thai)
Thanks heaps for your kind review.
We have a range of dishes from various regions in Thailand, other than the main, central Thailand cuisine.
I am from Nong Khai, in the North-Eastern Isaan (อีสาน) region, Laos lies on the other side of the Mekong River. We have many dishes with Laotian influence as well, such as larb (salad), 'crying tiger', Lao-style country curry.
I have been here a few times and it is becoming one of my favourite thai restaurants. As soon as you enter you are greeted by enthusiastic and friendly staff, always with a smile on their face. The food is very impressive, comes out very quickly, and sometimes I cannot even finish it, although I strongly desire to do so.
To fully complete the thai experience, there is soft harmonious thai music in the background along with simple decorations on the walls. The last time I was there, there were 7 of us, they even gave us a complementary dessert dish. Now that is top quality service!
Response from Management:
Thanks heaps for your kind comments. The complementary dessert is just a token of our appreciation for your patronage. Look forward to seeing you and your friends again soon. Atom.
