Cofee is always good. Staff are genuinely friendly. Good banter. I've tried every cafe's bacon and egg rolls on Glebe Point Road and theirs is easily the best.

Do not go to Astor, no aircon, terrible service (we had to remind them of our order 30 minutes in) and my eggs Benedict the hollandaise sauce was split tasted like vinegar.

I had a great lunch here, what a fantastic waiter. He was so thorough and accommodating and we lingered for ages after eating without feeling like we had to go. This place is very "Glebe", a little quality local hangout type of cafe.

I have tried out all the cafes in Glebe and this one is the best by far. The cafe is your true neighbourhood cafe, friendly, relaxed, buzzing and fun. George and his father make everyone feel welcome and care about good service and great food. I especially love the coffee, George makes great coffee for all those who have very high coffee standards like me. Try it out, this place is very special.

If like so many of us you're trying to eat healthy foods you've got to try the chicken and vegetable soup - a clear vegetable broth with small chunks of vegetables and generous shreds tender chicken. The flavours are fresh and delicious. With the accompanying slice of sourdough it's a welcome lunchtime meal. Weight Watcher members, take note!

Since opening recently I have noticed that it gets harder and harder to find a table at the Astor. I guess this is due to the fact that the food and coffee are really fantastic. In fact the coffee George makes is out of this world! The bircher muesli and bacon and eggs are yummy breakfast options. The service is usually good with a feeling that you are part of the extended family. As I said before it gets harder to find a table here so you need to either squeeze in or wait. Which can be a pain, overall though I think its really worth it!

Hooray, a cool new cafe has opened under Valhalla, what a relief to have a classy cafe up this end of Glebe Point Road for discerning locals!

[Note that there are two new cafes that have opened under Valhalla, one is twice the size but this review refers to the smaller of the two. I've not been to the larger one, having been unimpressed by the food on display, the menu, the space, it just lacks that certain something, others must agree as Astor is always packed while the other is not!].

Anyway back to Astor. Firstly, and most importantly, they use Campos Coffee. For those who know Campos from their Newtown store or select cafes, you know it is a seriously good brew. Secondly, the little Rome cafe style chairs and tables are very cute and sophisticated. Thirdly, as soon as I saw the blackboard menu I knew we were in good hands. Why? There are only a handful of items and words such as "Hanks Jams"... "Meredith goats cheese"... jumped out at me.

The food is really tasty. I've tried the croque monseiur, which is a sinful ham and cheese toasty made wonderful thanks to great sourdough, good ham and a mustardy gruyere sauce. The pear and walnut toast was great. And the bacon and scrambled eggs were fantastic, the eggs were still wet, just as they should be, the bacon was clearly of great quality. Yum! The iced coffees are also great, they make 'real' ones using espresso coffee over ice, so not sweet and cloying, but very special.

    Highly recommended.

Best coffee in town, great food and fantastic service! George and his family are obviously doing it right as the place is constantly buzzing. The repeat trade says it all. Highly recommended.
