Just moved to this area wanted to try my first restaurant. This place looked clean and inviting. Had pizza on menu - I love pizza but shame this pizza lover was disappointed. This experience made me sign up to this website because I had heard about it from a friend. I now know I will check this website and reviews before dining anywhere again.
If I could've rated the food as a 0 I would have. We are locals with three children and expect a restaurant that charges $27 - $30 for a main to have a little more ambiance and at least half decent food. The pizza base is the WORST I have ever eaten. The fact that your menus never change (hence the cheap plastic casing) is a real shame.
Patrons, do not waste your money! Ash's you used to be good years ago but you can't fool the locals despite your new tables and chairs. Get a decent kitchen or lower your prices considerably. Everyone I know in Manly never goes there anymore.
We were celebrating our anniversary last night, and were very excited to go out for a meal at a local restaurant. Unfortunately, we had an awful experience at Ash's Table.
For a restaurant that advertises to be open until 9:30 on a Tuesday evening, I found it extremely off-putting and rude that the waiters began packing down the outdoor seating area around us whilst we ate our entrees, then took the heaters inside and stood inside watching us, waiting for us to finish our meal so they could go home. We were left to eat our meals on a solitary table on the pavement, on a very cold night as the heaters and 'walls' were packed away before 9pm.
We were finished by 9:15pm, 15 minutes before this restaurant apparently even 'closes'. The service was appalling - very stroppy. Several bored-looking waitresses stood inside watching us eat our meals, obviously waiting to leave the second we finished.
We felt so intimidated by this that instead of having a dessert and coffee on our anniversary, we felt 'in the way' and left. I don't normally write reviews, but was so upset after our expensive and horrible experience I felt compelled to write this. Terrible.
I came back to Ash's after seeing a few changes. What a difference... new menu, new furniture, candles and friendlier faces! We had salt & pepper squid, pizza, fish and lamb dishes. The food was excellent and I mean excellent. The place is much improved. Keep up a good work!!!
Having heard about the changes at Ashs we decided to re-visit and thoroughly enjoyed the new brighter and vibier local haunt. The happy waitstaff and new menu options provided great interest and was well backed up by excellent food quality. Seemed like the Ash's of old being so much busier than the establishments next door. Prices remain competitive and the duck was great- thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
Have recently changed the menu, and taken away some of the classic dishes on the menu. They've also bumped up the prices on old dishes which are exactly the same. Was a great place to get a cheap eat, now it has lost its charm.
Had a coffee at this place with friends thinking of eating here too as it was a lovely
wednesday out. Pity the service and the coffee here were so bad. Waitresses were rude and very uninterested in working. Coffee was weak and watery, the Chi Latte was nothing more than warmed milk with cinnamon in it. Went to pay the bill and was told "wait I'm doing something" (organising pens) by a waitress. It is obvious this place neither wants or needs patrons money. Now we know why the cafe next door seemed so busy.
My wife have been going here on and off for the past 2 or so years and have had some fantastic food experiences and some disasters. Lately we have noticed a massive change in the standard of food we received. We have also notice that the night chef that was generally the chef on when we enjoyed our meals the most, has moved on or so it seems. Although we have tried to be supportive of our local eatery we generally dine other places now. In short all we can say now is get your chef back pls.
Meals big portions. Food was quick out. Value for money +++++ I like how breakfast is served until late for us sleepy heads. Waitress was a little nerves taking our order and lacked knowledge of what came with the meals. Otherwise, highly recommended.
