My dad once told me one of the best way to tell a good Indian restaurant is if it's not on the menu, ask and see if they can cook it for you. At Ashiana I've done this and seen it many times, as Raj the owner and his staff cannot be more helpful and accommodating.
Something for everybody from very mild to very hot, the food is great and the portions are large ( something some other restaurants don't do ) and very friendly service.
I've been going to this restaurants for 5 years, I keep trying other places around Sydney as I love my curries but I've not found better.
Tip : Butter Chicken is the dish to have, ask for it slightly thicker and hotter than the menu version.
I took my aunty and uncle to this restaurant as I'd been there before and had some great food. This time did not disappoint either. We had the chicken tika (entree size) with mango chutney (give it a try) and 2 other dishes, 2 cheese naan - mmm and rice. Food was great, service was good (cute waitress) and the bill was a very reasonable $68. Great spot & great value. Ps. Try ther Cobra beer.
It took us over and hour to get our starter. Food was okish. Might be better on a weeknight as Saturday was really busy. We ended up not paying though as it was appaling service and not great food (I think because it was so busy).
Excellent Indian - one of the best in Australia ! Funky little building makes for an intimate and unique ambience. The food is excellent - try the Pao Bhaji starter which is magic. The staff are always friendly, helpful and very tolerant - as I found out when I took our football team there ! Cannot recommend this highly enough.
Favourite Indian restaurant, lovely staff, lovely location. You feel like you're in an indian tree house. The owner (I think he is the owner anyway) is lovely and waitresses are very good. Never been sick from the food, which I have to say is a rarity for Indian cuisine and my stomach.
I go to a monthly Curry Club where we sample curry houses all over the city. Of the 6 I've been to, this has been the best. The chicken xarcutta was the best, the lamb korma also quite good. Naan good, generous on the papadams and dips. Decor is a bit ropey. Service was good, although given there were only about 4 tables in it's hard to say what it would be like when busy.
Always used to be a favourite, to be honest, there was never anything good enough to compare to the curries back home in England... have got so fed up putting up with average food in a run-down derelict restaurant and have now found much better Indian food not too far away from this one! Service was always very satisfactory and could never be faulted.
This place used to be a regular of mine but the last 3 times we have been here we have been very disappointed. The madras is exactly the same as the vindaloo and the once excellent garlic prawns masala is now definitely lacking. Maybe there has been a change in chef but I won't be going here no more. The toilets are disgusting also. This place is often busy so they should be able to fix up the toilets.
Unreal food... best Indian ever. Service is great, people are very nice, and they even give you wine if you are a crazy french canadian, beautiful woman.. I love you Caro
