I have been twice to this establishment for breakfast and on both occasions have been significantly impressed with the food. Unfortunately, on Both occasions I was disgusted with the absolutely poor service on the floor. Last Saturday morning they had nearly as many staff as they had customers, however, this did not mean attentive service.
The wait staff are completely clueless. There is almost an air of arrogance that comes from the senior staff, no wonder the staff don't care. Not once were we asked how our meal was, not once were we asked if we would like another drink when we had empty drinks on the table for 30 minutes. They served toast without butter or margarine.
I had to physically get up to get the attention of a waiter. One table of 6 ladies next to us for over 20 minutes before the clueless waitstaff thought to take their order. On several occasions the senior staff and all waitstaff stood around talking amongst themselves whilst paying customers are wanting for service.
Our food had been finished for over 30 minutes and not once did the waitstaff think to clear our table, ask if we would like anything else, let alone giving us the opportunity to request for the bill. During this time the staff would clear tables directly next to us without even looking at our table. It is a real shame as the food and venue is quite nice, however, I will Never return to this cafe for the fact that the staff and senior staff place no value on their paying customers. Don't waste your time.

Lovely spot to drop by for a casual feed whilst cycling or walking through Newington. We tried the ricotta hotcakes with banana and fig compote as well as the corn cakes with avocado, salsa, salmon and and fresh dill yoghurt sauce. The hotcakes were a little intense for my liking (had a weird cinnamon-like flavour) but the corn cakes were delicious. Both dishes were quite generous in size. Service was quite friendly. I would be happy to return here again.

Management must have done something about the service (based on other reviews), as lunch today was an absolute pleasure. The fellow who looked after us today couldn't do enough for us, was very attentive without being "in your face". When asked, he told us he'd only been there a couple of weeks, if they keep hiring people like this fellow, they'll be scoring 10's for Service in no time.(And no, I'm not related to him, I didn't even get his name, I wish I had, to mention in this review).
The food was terrific (the John Dory was "real", not Silver Dory or Mirror Dory, like some places serve). The salads were fresh and interesting. And the plate wasn't packed full of chips....thank goodness.
We'll be going back, looking at other meals being served at nearby tables, there's more great food to be sampled here.

Staff need to focus on their service, rather than on their undeserved pretentiousness. Several staff members have been very rude to me on a number of occasions (and when I complained to a senior staff member, she was rude as well).
Service needs a great deal of improvement, in regards to attitude of staff, waiting times to be served and arrival of food. Have found staff to be uncompromising in regards to menu and seating arrangements. Food is overpriced and of sub-standard quality. Coffee is less than average. I will not be returning.

Arrived for sunset special. On arrival, Insisted on website voucher even though booked Special via phone booking. Ordered from menu, duck and flat head both overcooked and unmemorable. +++ points for venue and SB wine. Will not return, voting with wallet.

A relatively small cafe/restaurant, open for dinner on Friday and Saturday only but daily for breakfast/lunch. A view to die for, on the Parramatta River, in front of the old Navy Munitions Depot (Newington Armory).
A reasonable list of above-average menu items, and relatively inexpensive. What you read (and see) is what you get, check their website, is a great place for a meal and a chat. Wine list is Ok.

Had lunch here today with my colleague, ordered the crispy pork belly and was presented with a chunk of pork fat and burnt shard of "crackling". Subsequently ordered the fish and chips with tiny pin bones still in the fillet.
The service is atrocious and ambience is spectacularly average. Should have known better than to give this place another go after I was served rubbery fried egg the first time. Unjustified hype.

This cafe was disappointing, having heard so many good things about it. The breakfasts are small and the produce used isn't particularly quality. Coffees were weak and improperly roasted, and the service was pretty average at best, with staff looking inconvenienced when you dared to ask for something.
The most surprising thing is that it wasn't particularly busy, so I would hate to think what it is like when it is packed out. The location, however, is great, right alongside the Parramatta River.

Went here yesterday. Lovely location but run like a take away joint. No waiter dedicated to your table so we were sat down without menus and then ignored. We finally got menus then got asked twice if we had ordered. Food took ages to come. Chips weren't cooked. Aioli was an extra $2. Corn cakes and chicken pie were good but not great. Probably won't return and very disppointed :-(

I came here to catch up with few friends today before going overseas. Beautiful weather and nice location, we all very glad to find this place.
Food is alright and I don't really expect much here. However, I have to rate this as the second worst services I have been given in any restaurants in Sydney. And very sadly, not only the waiter but also his senior staff when we logged the complaint. I doubt if any restaurant owners would like to get a senior staff who told the customers 'I am very busy, I have to sort things out with few other tables' while your customer is logging a complaint.
We have been given 15% discount, we just need people to have some right attitude to apologise/explain, money is not the solution! Looking at the review, I am not the only one who complain the service in the restaurant, something is seriously wrong in this restaurant.
