My review on this place is mixed. Most of the guys working there were nice and friendly, but for one pushy one (like "You DO want hummous? yeah yeah, it's very good - yes, hummous? The hummous was really well presented..and yeah, nice enough!). Regarding the rest of the food we had, we found it really tasty, so definitely a thumbs up for the food. It's just the value that's mixed.
E.g. the Sambusic were these tasty little fried pockets of stuff, three measly portions of an entree for $12 - NOT good value then we had the chicken and rice. This was our favourite dish, very yummy, but not quite a good enough main dish size for a rice dish for $22 (it is, after all, based on rice). The Lamb Shawarma was good value for $20, a good mountain of meat! So yes go for great food, mixed service and mixed value!
I'd go again for the food if out on Crown St.. .but would chose wisely on what to eat for my money to get the value I desire.
Never, ever again! Really tasty food but so expensive and on the big plates there was almost nothing. We waited 20 mins just to get the menu. Actually I had to ask for it. Very disappointed.
If you love Lebanese food and want a more upmarket experience than the traditional haunts on Cleveland Street, this is the place to go. Expect to pay "modern Australian" prices, not "ethnic food" prices and indulge yourself in the best Lebanese food this side of Beirut.
We discovered on talking to our waiter that the chef and sous chef are both from 5 star hotel kitchens in Dubai and it shows. The Lebanese sausages are a must, are made on the premises and far excel anything we have found on our many shopping expeditions to butchers in Lakemba, Liverpool, Bankstown and Rockdale.
Don't order a steak or any Western food if you go here - yes, previous reviewer, if you want a steak better go to a pub where you can appreciate standard Aussie food. However, if you have more interesting tastes Arabella is a "goer". What a welcome addition to Crown Street - thanks Arabella for chosing our suburb for your new venuture!
Food was ok, service was terrible - a 2 hour wait between the "entree" and "main" banquet courses (with a random semi-cold plate of "potato-stuff" - as described by the waitress - thrown in half-way)!!! Had to order tea 4 times before it arrived. We were then overcharged and faced a very unhelpful staff in trying to overcome this. Will not be going back after this experience!!!
$32 steak is a joke!! You get a better quality steak for $8 in the local pub two blocks away.
We waited 20 min just to get the menu. Actually I had to ask for it.
Very disappointed. Not going back ever again.
3 of us for weekend dinner. I am so glad the Bentley has disappeared. It was a random "let's try this" moment. It was a walk-in. Place was half-full/half-empty depending on your psychology. There were 2 waiters and owner manning the fort.
Mezze plate, rice with chicken, lamb kebabs and salad. We were totally impressed.
The mezze plate had variety and fresh. The hot food was flavoursome and aromatic and the chicken was very tender. The lamb kebabs were ordered by the boy and he's a lamb man. Sam Kekovic would be proud. Loved the lamb. It was tender and tasty. Salad was fresh. No alcohol, just plain water. Very reasonable, great value. A great introduction to Lebanese food.
Food was OK. Biggest disappointment was the fact that the waiter up sold in rather unpleasant way more food suggesting that what we ordered was not enough. There was two of us. We ending up getting one more dish on his advise. Two minutes later all our dishes started come out and within literally five minutes all our mezzes plates where on the table. It was far too much food and started getting cold.
We sent one dish back saying everything was coming out to quickly and would just get cold, but this was pointless as the dish returned two minutes later. We ended up wasting food and the bill at just under $100 (no alochol) was very pricey for the quality. Would not be returning. If you want similar food go a bit further down Crown St. where everything is excellent from the food, service, ambience and value.
Last saturday I had a great nite at Arabella.. it is fun place to be.. but I was disappointed by some hypocrites who do not know good food and place, and have worst taste.
This is good place to have food and fun at the same time. People are very pleasant and easy to communicate and food was mind blowing. The staff was very helpful and created a vibe experience of eating out of house.... too good to miss. Highly recommended.
