For a fresh Thai bite at a good price get there before 7 on weekdays. A good way to fill the belly before going in to a gig on the weekends too. The drinks are a bit pricey..doesn't stop me though unfortunately.
If you are going to heavily advertise $15 for 3 litres of beer on Australia day make sure you can keep your promise. Six beer towers to dispense the beer offer between 300 people are not enough. If you are going to promote yourselves in the press and on the radio make sure you have the means to deliver. Very disappointing.
Yummy, nice tucker, good grog, non-trendy so the prices are still reasonable, ordering thru a window is a pain. I'm going back for more and more and more.
You haven't truly seen a band until you've seen them at the Annandale. There's a certain atmosphere and intimacy that a gig here creates, whether it's the latest unsigned four-piece guitar band to an established name who craves a connection with their support base.
Love the 'Dale! I recently moved to Sydney and live in Petersham so naturally discovered this gem. I've seen loads of great bands there already, mostly on Thurs/Fri/Sat but I've heard mid-week can be a bit hit and miss.
I went and checked out The Mark Of Cain this week on a Tuesday night, a surprise gig (gotta love those), and discovered that they've renovated the beer garden! And its awesome - they have these funky Fender stools and tables with old gig posters under the glass. My kinda place! The food is the same format as Thai In A Box but called Wok 'N Roll - nice - and it was really yummy. The salt and pepper squid sharing plate was delish and great fresh ingredients in the stirfry I had.
Okay, I admit to being biased - I lurve the Dale. Have seen some killer gigs here over the years and its' the perfect size - not too big, not too small. People are friendly and out for a good time. Big thumbs up!
