Great food - good service (the waiter from Canberra is great). Restaurant in what seems to be an old house or shop is a little quaint, but it works with the paintings for sale on the walls, all in all, a really enjoyable night.

We have eaten at Angel numerous times now and love the place. We have had breakfasts, lunches, dinners and everything has been great.

We really like the fact that it is different to the alternatives in Manly. In that you can find a park, you can hold conversation, you can take as long or as little as you please but most importantly the food's always great.

My personal favourite is the degustation which is great value and not your usual fare. They have taken the menu up a notch and dared to be different and it's worked.

What a gorgeous way to spend a special day. For my birthday I enjoyed great food, wine and company in a warm friendly environment. I had been to Angel before for breakfast on the deck. I loved the food and atmosphere of this heritage listed house so booked it for my birthday. My table of 10 had the 'five course lunch' which we took our time enjoying while taking in the fresh sea air on a sunny saturday day a couple of weeks ago.

Everyone commented on what a wonderful meal and day we had and how relaxing it was sitting on the deck, almost as if at home, but being served delicious food and wine. It really was a perfect day for us and will be back for more.

Food was nice but nothing really special or memorable. It irritates me that restaurants make you order vegetables separately, makes you feel like you're being squeezed. I usually just go without. Service was good and friendly although the waiter seemed nervous? Ambience was quite nice. Was nice and quiet - unlike the plethora of unbearably noisy restaurants. Very difficult to find a park around there.

In response to managers reply -

We didn't have lunch we had dinner. The vegetables served with the mains are barely there. Complete dishes? if you don't like vegetables. They are more a garnish than a sufficient serving of veg. Its a well known trend in sydney restaurants and in many peoples opinion its a rort. If I pay those prices for a dish I don't call two asparagus or a few bits of baby spinach a complete dish.

Parking - you may find it easy to park because you park when all the local residents are at work. Night time parking is a different story altogether. We had to drive around and around for 10-15 minutes.

Instead of getting on here and making excuses you would be much better off just saying "we are sorry your experience wasn't as good as it maybe could have been, please come again and we will do all we can to make your next visit a pleasurable one"

But instead you have come across as overly defensive and turned me off ever returning.

    Response from Management:
Thanks for the review, however I think I should point out a few things.

All our meals come with vegetables and are "complete" dishes. There is no need to order a side - that is purely optional. Please see our lunch menu for examples www.angelrestaurant.com.au/lunch.htm

Next is the parking. I park at Angel everyday and in 6 years have had to park no further than 50 metres away. Also the parking is free. This is in contrast to Manly or Dee Why.

    Thank you,
    Alex Berry

Seriously mediocre experience to say the least. Mains were cold and late to the table, wait staff rude, drink not delivered and overpriced. Seating and tables were uncomfortable. They appear to rest on the fact that they are situated on the beach, rather than good food and service.

We just moved to the beaches, hence, new babysitter so we thought we would stay local. Usually we go for the degustation but didn't feel like it for some reason so went a la carte, food was excellent and service was lovely with the staff so friendly and helpful and very reasonably priced, byo as well which we like as we often prefer to take our own wine. Had to wear my coat all night as it was very draughty but it was a very windy night. Cannot believe our luck that we are so close to this and Pilu! will def be going back, often. Oh and the t/a coffee one sunday morning was also very good.

Went for dinner on a Friday evening. Nice ambience, has a cosy beach house feel. Waitresses were lovely but a little slow with our drinks order and offering further drinks during the meal. We both had the Osso Bucco for main. Veal cooked beautifully, fantastic rich flavour and very moist. Polenta was tasty too. The only real problem was that the main course was not hot, quite lukewarm in fact, which was a shame.

I don't understand how the whole thing wasn't hot, had they plated up onto a cold plate? Had the waitresses not been fast enough to pick it up? Or, horror, had it simply not been properly warmed though by the chef? (it was a uniform lukewarm all the way through the veal, so I suspect this may have been the case) With all of this running through my head I did find it hard to enjoy such a tasty dish.

We decided to soldier on and ordered dessert. He had the chocolate torte and I the banana crepes with mango ice cream. Both desserts were fantastic, especially the crepes, very simple but super yummy, mango ice cream tasted and looked home made and was fantastic.

I think we would go back as the food was obviously of high quality. The lukewarm main course is a little off putting, but hopefully they'll have that fixed by the time we go back!

This restaurant is fabulous. A bit of a hidden gem. On the night that we dined there were a number of patrons enjoying the degustation menu which looked great. As a recommendation, the zucchini and noodle pancakes were divine and the fillet mignon was a great follow up. We didn't need to but we finished with dessert. Banana crepes and 3 types of homemade ice cream. Delicious. Will be going back again very soon.

I took my wife and her parents to Angels for Mother's day for lunch and we loved it! We had the set menu for the day. $65 per head which was a lot less than some other restaurants we looked at for the day. A beautiful spot. The sun was shinning and it was a nice warm day. They were pretty busy but everything seemed to run quite smoothly, the waitstaff didn't have time to chat but were very pleasant.

The food was sensational so all in all we had a great time. I would recommend it for a relaxed lunch when the weather is nice.

Have had a wonderful breakfast here, and some mixed lunch experiences. The service has been the weakest link. Some of the lunch dishes are pedestrian, but some are fab, so choose with care. When they get it right it is very good. Lunch prices are a touch excessive for the quality of the overall experience.
