We went to Ambrosia for the Father's Day buffet, it was quite disappointing. The service was fantastic but the food was quite bland. Although a bit of variety, the dishes were bland and tasted similar. The only good thing was the grilled octopus/crab. Other than that, the food was very very plain.
The service at this place as terrible and the food was not worth the price at all. I've tasted much nicer food for much less. When we entered the restaurant was greeted by a grumpy manager who just didn't know how to smile. We order our drinks and looking at the menu. My brother asked what one of the item on the menu were the waiter reply I don't know I only serve drinks. I found it a bit strange but fair enough he offered to call upon another waiter.
My dad accidentally spilled his Crown Lager on the table and we used one of the napkins to wipe it up and when we kindly asked one waiter if he can kindly take the napkin away his reply was "What? You want me to take that (pointing to the napkin) away?" I couldn't believe it, isn't it his job? He did take the napkin. We placed our food order and ordered new bottle of Crown and also asked a new napkin.
Our appetiser came out but the drink and napkin were no were to be seen. We eventually called upon another waiter for the drink and napkin, but brought the drink but still no napkin. Then the main meals came out and once again have to ask for the napkin once more and eventually it came. I guess the wait staff there are taught to only do ONE thing at a time. My steak was burnt and there was no sauce to eat the steak with. A Bad experience altogether.
I came here with an open mind, I heard great reviews and that the value was great. This is one of the worst dining experience I ever had. Service was bad, food was very bad but at least the ambience was nice.
I've dined here on several occasions over the years and find it a very pleasant and relaxing experience. The food is always decent and the service excellent. The seafood platter is worth every cent.
Just got home from having one of he best seafood buffets and at $39.95 pp very hard to beat it was fresh, there was plenty of variety the chilli crab, the oysters, the fresh prawns, I could go on all night about it, and the service was fantastic you never had to wait for anything, we had quite a few drinks and they were at your table within a few minutes of ordering can't wait to return, the only thing they need is some fresh cream for the desserts, well done Ambrosia.
I am unsure as to what restaurants the previous reviewers have been to but it seems as though they only frequent restaurants like McDonalds.
We ordered the Ambrosia lobster and it was extremely poor. The lobster sauce was essentially kraft thousand island sauce. It came with vegetables which were boiled and nothing else. It also came with mash potatos made from dehydrated instant potato mix. For $40 it was the most ridiculous, overpriced meal I have ever tasted.
The grilled barramundi was overcooked and came with boiled veges and thats it. I was amazed that I was served this after looking at the menu prices. It's extremely sad that this place is considered by previous reviewers as special.
The interior is cheap. The staff are unprofessional and the food is bland and boring.
First time diner but was so impressed. Waiters were helpful but not intrusive, food was to die for and we were expecting to pay more. I will try the seafood platter next time. This will be a special place for special occasions. I will definitely be back.
Dined here for the first time after many years of driving past. We enjoyed it. The ambience was so 80's romance with its greek statues, loud carpet and fake roses on the table, it was great. There seemed to be a lot of people eating the 125.00 seafood platter for two but we each had a different meal and they were beautiful. We had the bbq octopus for entree but seemed too grilled, have had better but other than that my prawn dish was really nice. Service was friendly and well timed. Would go back.
I had a great time at Ambrosia, although it is a seafood restaurant they still had meals for me, the non seafood eater. The meals are large and the staff are great with consistent service.
