Had a great evening here, the food was excellent and took me back to my travels in Morocco and Spain a few years back, great place to sit and enjoy a really good menu. The staff were excellent too and dealt very obligingly with my fussyness. Definitely will be returning and recommending to visitors to Manly.
The food, unfortunately, the Good Food Guide didn't get right. It is either greasy or microwaved in a number of instances and way too expensive for what you get.
Be warned: if you sit on the right side inside you will be deafened by the dancers about 9 pm in the evening, who are charming and pretty, are quite noisy and you'll not be able to talk. We won't be going back.
The reviews here give a good feel for our experience at Alhambra. The food isn't as good as the Good Food Guide suggests, although the service was friendly (if a little ..er.. relaxed) and the dancing made for great atmosphere.
Despite the mixed reviews here we tried this place out. It was a bit of disappointment. It was midweek, and quiet but the service was really slow, and though some of the tapas dishes were good we felt the portions were too small for the price.
Definitely a place I would not go back to. We had a large table of 16 and it cost us $50 per head so for that price the food was not up to scratch at all. Corkage for some reason was $56 which doesn't equal 3 x 16. I wonder where our other 2.6 friends of ours were hiding.
Service was good, we got water when water ran out, and they constantly cleared the table. None of the dishes stood out. For $50 I can think of a heap of restaurants that would give me better value for my money and great food.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. I will not be returning. We went with a group of 10 for tapas, having pre-booked and informed the staff that we were having tapas. When we arrived, they refused to give us any tapas and instead demanded that we order from the $50 set menu as it was a Friday night and "the kitchen would tear up our order if it was just tapas". We waited for five minutes for the other members of our table to arrive and then promptly left.
Before we did, they tried to charge us $60 corkage for the bottles of wine opened at our table in preparation for dinner. Dreadful show.
Here I was considering if someone was playing a trick on me when all three of our tables mains had arrived, only for mine to be another 23 minutes. After 15 minutes of friends being polite, their meals were better to be eaten than to remain cold.
When my main arrived, what a joke. A pathetic attempt at a couple of sausages with sauce and the like. While the great company allowed for the evening to run smooth, the table next to us with a hens night provided the real entertainment.
To end the night, the short black I ordered didn't arrive in an espresso style cup. When I took it back, I was told that was. To someone who reviews coffee shops - major mistake. Overall, a place to go for some fun at your expense, and with the high prices, it's a great expense.
They rock. Yumm meal, generous meal size, variety, smiley waitresses, pretty dancers, good atmosphere and etc will make your night. Try to book it first for weekend night and enjoy the time with your buddies/family.
We had a great time. The staff were really helpful with explaining the menu. We loved the Tapas and pealla, and the special dessert - wow! Will be taking my parents there when they come over.
Some strange flavour combinations, and a little pricey considering the portion sizes. Our waitress brought our table the wrong food out twice and just laughed and said 'this always happens'. Was expecting SO much more, won't be back, and won't be recommending. Shame.
