I have been a regular visitor to Alfredo's for over twenty years - long before he opened this restaurant at Bulletin Place. The service is always polite and efficient and the food is tasty and good value. I seems increasingly hard to find a restaurant in Sydney that manages anything other than mediocre service and even the restaurateurs acknowledge this. I'm tired of paying out good money and getting a 20-something waiter/waitress from Germany or France or Holland who is over here on a working holiday and hasn't got a clue.
At Alfredo's you still get good old-fashioned service. The linen is crisp, the service polite and discreet and the food is always of a good quality. They can be a bit slow when they are packed but generally I find them to be way above average and I never tired of eating here.
I had the mushroom risotto, highly recommend it! The dish was very hearty, tasty and just what I was after. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, as if maybe it were a family run restaurant. Value was fine. At the end of the night the piano player asked the girls at our table if he could play something for them, and though neither of them could think of something (he'd already played all their favourites) it was a nice gesture.
This is the most disgusting venue in the world. Rudest staffs in the history of mankind and management don't care. An absolute disgrace of a place. I wouldn't take my worst enemy to this shocking place. Our waiter had one of our parties in tears from his arrogance and managed to offend all 7 of us with his aggressive bully behaviour. Go there at your own risk. I'll fight these guys in court if they want to argue. I have 6 witnesses whose evening was ruined by this guy. I'll never eat Italian again because of it.
Pleasant restaurant and decent enough food, but it's certainly nothing out of the ordinary. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. For the price, I would have expected better but maybe that's just me...or perhaps I caught them on a bad night.
After reading the reviews on this restaurant my wife and I decided to eat there last night. The person who said it makes you feel like you're in Italy has not been to Italy. We were greeted by an Indian waiter and shown to our table. We were then served by a Chinese waitress who took our drink orders. They were very friendly and prompt.
We then met out first Italian waiter who asked for our order without a smile or any sign of personality and I told him we had just sat down and could he give us a little while. He then returned about 2 minutes later and again asked what we wanted to order and when I told him that we were still deciding, he rolled his eyes at me and walked off with a huff. At this stage I was ready to walk out but my wife insisted we stay due to the fact that it was raining outside.
Our drinks arrived (Bourbon and Coke $9.90 !!!! ) and wine for my wife along with two glasses of water in the tackiest "Coca Cola" engraved glasses you can imagine. Like something you would get at Pizza Hut. Then the piano player came to our table and asked for a request. I suggested something by Elton John and was just about to suggest a song when he walked away without listening.
Oh well. I had the rack of lamb which for $34.00 was tiny and my wifes risotto was nice but not worth $28.00. This place is way over priced and the staff are rude. To finish off they had charged us for two bruschetta when we only ordered one. When I bought it to their attention the waiter looked at me like I was weird to worry over something so trivial. Never to return.
I went to Alfredo's based on the comments and ratings it received on this website, and I was not disappointed! The food was sensational. I had the bruschetta followed by the pleasant ravioli and both times I was blown away by the taste.
The restaurant itself is a lovely building, with a real polished/rustic feel about it. Plus the pianist adds to the fantastic ambience. I will certainly be going back for more!
Highly recommend for a romantic evening out! Food was lovely. Atmosphere was great. The old man playing the piano was fantistic. Really added to the feel of the restaurant. Wine selection was superb. We had a corvo which was really good. Great italian restaurant tucked away in the heart of the city.
We had a party of 3 last nite on Melbourne Cup Tuesday. Yes, I was smashed but what a great meal we had. I had a chili crab pasta with garlic and it was outstanding. The atmosphere was very, very nice and even though the girl in our group spilled two glasses of wine (on me), the staff dealt with us very nicely as we were a little loud/drunk. So many nice choices on the menu and one had the prawn pasta with brocolli, and it was excellent - never thought of small/cut up bits of brocolli throughout a pasta but it was unique and lovely. I would definitely go back sober to enjoy even more. Well done.
The atmosphere was very good - the pianist asked if we would like anything particular played (nice touch). The service was good but the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend the pleasant ravioli - absolutely beautiful! The tiramisu was also very good. It's not cheap but it's worth it. The waiters were Italian and not some part-time traveller earning cash-in-hand so it does feel a little more authentic. Would happily go there again - even just for the ravioli!
