This was a culinary debacle. After not being able to get a table at the ever-popular Hurricanes a few doors down, our group settled for this restaurant. As we walked in I noted the 'luminaries' plastered all over the wall posing with a man whom I guessed was the owner.
It seems this restaurant is only about appearances. We had to literally engage in the abhorrent act of 'waving over' a waiter to get noticed. When we did, we had to prompt him to ask us for wine, which worked out well because he then took all the wine glasses away...for reasons known only to himself, grunting to himself as he did. Of course the wine list was the real star, with a $17 bottle of Devils Lair coming in at a very competitive $60+. I can deal with wine mark-up at restaurants, but this was ridiculous.
When we finally managed to get someone to commit to take an order some 30-40 minutes later, we got through ordering our entrees before the waiter walked off without asking about mains, leaving the table to stare dumbfounded and agape at each other. People were literally stunned into silence. It was embarrassing.
When the $35+ mains arrived, the waiter simply interrupted the table with four plates in hand, and yelled 'So who's having the risotto? Who's having the steak?' You tell us buddy, you tell us.
The food was nice, but ultimately the hideous overpricing for the reward of utterly abysmal service was too much to stomach. We left swearing to never return again. Come if you like a great view, even greater arrogance, and a desire to see fine dining at its worse. They should make this an interactive display for upcoming restaurateurs on how to 'fail at business.'
The place is too overpriced for what you get, the service is not at all good had to wait a long time for the drinks and food and the waiters are very rude, whoever is running this show doesn't have the slightest idea what a good restaurant is, wouldn't bother going to this place.
Good food, nice view, terrible service!! Service and value for money really let this place down....much better available in the beautiful city of Sydney in this price range.
Nice atmosphere and ambience with a piano man playing in the background but that's pretty much all you get from this restaurant. Went there for a friend's birthday party with a group of 13. First, we had to keep waving to get the waiter's attention.
Then, they got my entree choice incorrect and I had to wait until everyone finish theirs before starting mine. A rissotto came out very undercook and we had to send it back not once but twice (2nd time came out more like a rissotto soup)!
Then the bill was incorrect. My crabmeat pasta was very nice but for $28, I am sure lots of other restaurant in Sydney could deliver the same quality.
Very sweet owner who is running this one, he is kind and talking nicely to us. The steak is very big, I can't end it. I also have good bread first, too much filling up for me. My friend have trimasu dessert with strawberry. I have small bite and I like it also.
Four friends go but only 3 are eating. One friend she is just looking at prices one time and then she wants food court dining and she is gone!
Oh my, how we wish we had checked the reviews first.
We were staying in a nearby hotel and felt like Italian food for a change over the weekend.
Got placed in the middle of smokers (albeit outside) and we are definite non-smokers.
Time to take order was lengthy. We only wanted appetisers and entrees with non-al drinks. (and one beer). We waited 20 mins for overpriced oysters naturale (how hard is it to throw oysters on ice?), then well over an hour for two entrees. Food was well below par.
Service was shocking. We had to ask for a glass of wine 3 times as they kept forgetting. Ordered white, got a red, which also took forever to be served.
My non-al drink was served in a glass with a chunk out of the base.
Never, never again.
Went there with group of six. One guest did not get dinner, waiter forgot order. Her food came about 5 minutes later, uncooked. Sent this back therefore she ate alone about 10 minutes after this. Spoke to head waitress when paying bill. She was rude and spoke to the waiter about us in Italian. She got the senior staff who shrugged his shoulders. Will never go back mainly because of their attitude.
This is the worst restaurant I have been to in the last couple of years. The service is unacceptable. We ended up chasing the waiters all night to order food. Even when we asked for our bill we waited 15 minutes for them to bring it to our table, and the restaurant was half empty.
But it was not so much the bad service we were disappointed about. It was the food. Overpriced and overcooked. The antipasto platter consisted of one thin slice of prosciutto , one slice of cheese, a slice of salami and three olives. ‘All’ this for a mere $18. It was actually embarrassing.
It’s safe to say that I will never ever go there again!
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The food was appalling and completely over priced. The service was terrible. We waited for over an hour for our mains, and the waitress didn't even apologize, so maybe this is normal at this place.
