Almustafa is a great restaurant. Two weeks ago we went to this restaurant with our close friends and had a great time. The food was spot on and the service was great. The ambience made us feel very welcomed. One of the best highlights was the two fantastic bellydancers. Many of us were asked to bellydance. We definitely enjoyed it! We were sitting in the cushion room, which was very comfortable indeed. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone and all ages. I would definitely go and eat at this restaurant many more times!
I liked the place. Yet for $40 a head. I question the value of the restaurant. I'm sure I could get the same meal at any kebab house in Sydney for $12. For my personal taste. I like to eat at a place, enjoy the vibe and go. This place is, you start, you eat and by the time you are ready to get the bill. Three hours have passed. So it depends on your personal taste in what you want for an evening.
We ordered the $42 banquet last week and was very disappointed with the service, the value for money and the amount of food. For that amount one should still not be hungry. It was few and far between when we could get service but when we did we asked for more food. This was granted but came out an hour later. We were embarrassed as we brought people here. We eat middle eastern frequently and found that Al Mustafa is poor for service and value for money in comparison to others. We will not be eating here again.
Had lunch here last week. Ordered off the dinner menu and found the food excellent. The price for two people was more than reasonable and we could not eat it all. The salad was a stand out, very fresh ingredients and interesting dressing. It was fairly quiet so service could not be accurately judged but on the day it was very good. Would gladly go back again.
I attended a friend's bday dinner here last night and was very disappointed at the very little food we received as part of a banquet. For $45 we got the usual dips and bread, the vine leaves and very little meat and rice. And what was advertised on the menu as "chicken skewers" resulted in "one chicken skewer each". I am pretty sure that there were parts of the banquet which we were meant to be served and never saw, such as falafel and even coffee at the end of the night.
Everybody paid $5 extra for "unlimited soft drinks", and between 23 people I think I saw one jug of coke the entire night! At other Lebanese restaurants I have attended, the banquets leave you extremely satisfied with the large serves. Unfortunately, I was left waiting for the next dish to arrive, disappointed to see that it was dessert which meant it was time to leave! Would not be going here again for the price paid!
It is a great place. I love the food. Try it yourself and you will love it too. Be careful not to order too much. The servings are bigger than ordering tapas. The banquet is a nice option to try out a nice variety of dishes.
Dining here is a supremely ordinary experience! It is fine to charge more if you deliver better food, a better eating experience or great service. But to charge more than your average Lebanese restaurant and to deliver less on food, service and ambience is just not on. Don't waste your money.
Very average middle eastern food catering the western pallette. Its spot the middle eastern person in here which is always a bad sign for an arabic restaurant. Go to Lakemba, Punchbowl, Greenacre, etc and you will see these restaurants packed with middle easteners. There is a reason. They serve quality lebanese food at half the price of venues like this. On a positive the service is great as it normally is in any middle eastern restaurant.
I went to this restaurant for a friends Birthday party and I can only say if you are looking for a good night with great food and service don't go here. Trying to get a drink was a challenge and I spent half my night trying to get a waiters attention and if you did manage it then you weren't guaranteed that drink would come back.
The dips and salads we're ok but when the BBQ meat skewers came out they resembled charcoal and were just about inedible. At about 10 (not too early for a restaurant in my books) o'clock as we were sitting still having the last of our drinks one of the waiters mentioned that they were closing and could we finish up and 5 minutes later as I was talking to friend near the door again asked if we could move the others along because of contract cleaners coming. Really? at after 10 on a Saturday night.
So the food was very average, the service was almost not there and in my thoughts I felt like these guys just wanted our money and didn't care about the rest. Al Mustafa gives Lebanese food a bad wrap. If you want some great Lebanese food and time do yourself a favor and go elsewhere at Phillip street Parramatta.
I had my 50th at Almustafa. I travelled and organised it all from WA with 53 ppl, at $42ph, at my table of 15 we had 4 lamb skewers and when we asked if there were more coming, our reply was "well how many more do you want" the waitress was absolutely unprofessional and rude, they filled us up with bread and dips, honestly I could go on and on. I continually asked the senior staff is there more food coming and surely you can't tell me that this is $42 worth of food and his reply was that I have to consider the bellydancer, wages and rent.
Well dear sir, the bellydancer, wages and rent is not my concern, the entertainment is purely part of the service on behalf of Almustafa. I will never ever go to this restaurant again, its was disgraceful and they definitely do not know how to put on a function. You have lost me and not to mention everyone else that attended my 50th!
