Went to this place on Sat 19th July 2008, looking forward to some nice Italian food. What I got was worse than McDonalds at 10 times the price. The blackboard special entree of cheese & spinach crepe was hot on the edges but cold in the middle. A sign of being microwave food.
Main meal was tasty pasta, but not fresh and not worth the $24.00. Again, blackboard special dessert canola was soggy pastry and dried split custard, a sign it had sat in the fridge for a week. 3 of us sent back dessert. Best thing about this place was the Asian waiter who really tried, but was let down by the "kitchen staffs"
Didn't try the pizza's, but I will never know as I'll never go back. In my opinion, avoid at all costs.
Attended this restaurant on Saturday night 23/5/08, with 6 friends from the South Coast on our recommendation. Bad Idea! Had previously eaten there and thought food had been great. Was absolutely amazed how much it has changed since change of management.
Had to wait 45 mins for entrees and then only 1 out of 3 arrived. Asked waiter could we get remainder plus our drinks we had ordered also 45 min ago. We waited well over an hour for our mains and when they arrived was shocked at size of portions Gnocci had about 15 pieces and I don't know where the alleged pumkin in it was? 2 serves of lamb shanks were stone cold in middle and luke warm on out side. Pollo mesicana claimed to have olives in it so I guess technically it did qualify having one olive, very watery and luke warm.
Told waiter meals were cold and he took away and returned same meal after heating in microwave. Ordered another bottle of Lambrusco only to be told they had run out. How pathetic on a Sat night!!!! Spoke to staff who obviously couldn't care less and had the attitude that it was tough luck. Offered free dessert begrudgingly which we didn't accept as we just wanted the night to end and get out of there. Never ever ever again willl we eat there.
I am not sure why I picked this place for a Sunday lunch. Small servings, dirty table and staff who are obviously wish they were somewhere else. My fiance' picked calamari which came with 8 pieces! Now I know why this restaurant is always empty! Kind of embarrassing that I am Italian and diners would think this is authentic Italian, but it is definitely not. Try some of the other great restaurants in the forum.
I was taken there for my birthday a few weekends back and shockingly found a cockroach in my stuffed dry barramundi... that wasn't the worst thing. Instead of the senior staff coming over and apologising to me he went up to my partner and argued with him. The only thing I think good of this place is their wait staff except for one (who threw the dessert menus at our table instead of handing them to us).
This place leaves a lot to be desired. The service is absolutely shocking! As other reviewers have commented it takes over an hour to get any food. In our case my son had to wait for an hour after everyone else had finished to get a pizza. When it came it was the wrong one, we sent it back and told them to forget it we had had enough and would now leave. They then wanted us to pay for the pizza, go figure! They could not careless about the customers.
Last night had dinner there, had the blackboard menu of stuffed barramundi (stuffed with 2 prawns and mushrooms) flavours didn't blend well, very pricey at $32.00...also had the eye fillet. Requested well done but received rare....pizza was ok nothing special. The ceasar salad was very bland...ordinary sauce and pricey for a very small serve $11.50 enough for 1...
Service was slow, waited 1 hr for mains, dessert was terrible, tiramisu was full of cream no taste, panacotta tasted like milk, bread and butter pudding tasted like scrambled eggs, later waited 20 minutes for a coffee, had to request it again and again, 3 times later, when we asked the waiter how long to get a coffee, he said 'unpredictable'...how long does it take to get a coffee????When we asked for the bill, surprisingly Quick!! Wouldn't go there again, many better choices to choose from.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The customer service I received was shocking. After waiting 1 hr 15 minutes for my main to come out, I asked the waiter about this as the table next to us arrived after us and received their mains before us and was just about to finish, only to be shouted at “Be patient!!!” Our food arrived 15 minutes after we have spoken to the senior staff, to only have my chicken dry and very bland. Avoid this place if you don't want to be shouted at.
Avoid this restaurant if you want good service! We went there for my mum's birthday and the service was shocking - we had to wait an hour for two of three meals to be served, and then after about twenty minutes enquired about the third meal, which had not been made. The waiters were not sympathetic at all. Several tables full of people left while we were there as they could not get served to give their order. Appalling service.
This place made for a terrible night of eating. The main areas for disappointment were in the service and food. Starting off with the service, it is almost impossible to get the attention of a waiter or waitress. For some reasons, they seem to be scarce and you have to look around and yell out for one to get their attention. Once you did get their attention, the attitude was not a problem and they did do their best. However, the inconvenience of not having a waiter or waitress around is the problem. We joked with some other people at other tables about the same issue, so we knew it wasn't just us.
The biggest disappointment was the food. Let me start by saying the portions aren't big, unless you're getting a pasta or risotto. The pizzas aren't that big and I didn't like the base, although the topping was ok. The pastas could pass as "ok", but nothing to get excited about. I thought the spaghetti marinara was not very tasty. The unusual chicken, mushroom and avocado risotto was ok.
We had ordered a chicken dish, which was undercooked. When asked to have it reheated, it was done apologetically and not added to our bill. So credit to the waitress who dealt with this issue. We also ordered a steak to be cooked medium rare, which came out well done. When simple things like this are not attended to, then the quality of the food produced needs to be questioned.
I came here for a quick lunch on Sunday, since the crowds are thin then. Seems to be the right thing to do if you want service judging by the negative comments here, as I had no problems with the service and my food came out quickly.
Unfortunately, the food itself was very disappointing. Spotting at least three pasta dishes on the menu with that generic "tomato cream sauce" alot of mediocre Italian joints seem tack on as an after thought to a pasta dish when the chef is out of ideas for a sauce, I played safe and ordered a Penne Siciliana ($14). Penne, eggplant, black olives and onion in a tomato sauce, pretty simple.
I eat out alot and I cannot remember the last time I had to reach for the salt shaker, because seasoning is the chef's job not the diner's. I went postal with the salt shaker trying to pry some flavour out of the delicious looking but bafflingly tasteless and underseasoned sauce, without much success. To its credit, the eggplant was lusciously creamy but I felt the penne was overcooked and was not al dente at all. Overall I enjoyed everything here but the food. Given how disappointingly a dish as basic as this came out, I can't see hope for the fancier stuff on the menu and won't be bothering to come back and try them.
