I loved my first time here but will never return again. Despite ordering drinks with the meal order, drinks came about 45 minutes later after repeated requests (also collected the beer that never came). Staff lost track of the food on the banquet menu, we repeatedly asked for items and finally gave up despite not getting the dishes we were entitled to. The restaurant was unclean also. On the upside, food was tasty (what we had) and staff meant well. What a shame, what happened to this place?
We popped into Almustafa hoping to grab some delicious food before catching a movie. We had left ample time and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Unfortunately, perhaps, not all the staff were on or the ones who were inexperienced and we ended up waiting an eternity for our food which they then got wrong! We weren't the only table waiting as everyone around us seemed to be tapping their fingers and getting the wrong orders. The food was rather average and I would be very hesitant to go back.
The last time we came here for a group dinner it was fabulous. We had a banquet and everything was terrific and the staff were brilliant. However, went here for lunch today and there were only about 5 other people in the place and service took an age. For lunch, food was tasty but overpriced. So the lesson here is to go for dinner not lunch and they were also firing up some hookahs that we'll definitely be trying out next time.
I dined at this restaurant with a party of 8 in the Cushion Lounge. While the food was quite good and constantly topped up like a buffet, my overall experience was negative due to the atmosphere. I had to shout across the table to have anything heard due to the large volume of people crammed in the room, which led to a very sore throat by the end of the night. The "cushion" lounge was in fact furnished with chairs which I found disappointing.
And the service was incredibly slow as our drinks did not arrive until we were half way through our meal. To top it all off the bill ended up being twice as much compared to other Lebanese restaurants. I will not be returning to Almustafas.
Response from Management:
Thanks for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed the food and the quantity we served. We will immediately undertake further staff training this week to ensure drinks are delivered within a shorter time frame during busy periods.
In regards to your other comments, Our cushion lounge is known to be for larger parties and is generally louder than our ground floor dining room. We only turn the music up when the bellydancers are performing and perhaps a little bit more for atmosphere when larger parties request.
Our cushion lounge seating is on cushioned benches about 40cm off the floor and we market this aspect to our customers on the basis that the majority of people do not prefer to sit directly on cushions on the floor.
We only have chairs on the front and back terraces. We will only bring chairs inside at the request of a customer. You may have had a different vision before you came to our Restaurant.
Our pricing is based on a business model that includes the high cost of rent in inner city Glebe, the ever increasing costs of high quality meats, vegetables & ingredients. Our prices are reflective of that and we undertsand there is cheaper Lebanese Restaurants for those who wish to vist the smaller suburban establishments.
In saying that, we still do not charge corkage on BYO Alcohol, even though we are now fully licensed and BYO.
Thanks for your feedback and we do hope we get to see you again sometime in the future.
Regards
Ian & Salwa
Terrible, aweful food and not much of it! Since the change of management this place went all the way down hill not happy! My husband and I used to go to Almustafa all the time back whn the old owners were still around, it was always beautiful, the service was great and the food was awesome, however, went there recently for my birthday paid $42 per person, got practically nothing for food (everyone left home hungry) and the food was cold and not fresh. Very disappointed wll never be back again.
Response from Management:
Ian & Salwa have not left the business and are still operating successfully ,as have so, over the past 15 years.
We are always happy to provide complimentary extras with the banquets, and we have blackboards in our upstairs cushion lounge which explain our generous policy in that regard.
We are always happy to receive feedback from customers, preferably face to face at the time of the visit to our Restaurant. We are disappointed you found the food poor, but our daily experience with our customers, is that the quality of our food has been consistently high over the full 15 years of our operation.
We encourage all to discuss any problems at our Restaurant during your visit, we will be happy to solve any concerns. If you do not wish to raise any matters during your visit and would like to raise them afterwards, we are happy to receive your email to;

Thank you
What a tale of two halves, whilst the food was tasty and fresh, the service was absolutely terrible. Generally rude and unprofessional. Considering the prices this place charges I expected alot better. Although the food was nice it wasn't exceptional, disappointing. I won't be going back in a hurry.
Perfect for a large group of people. I've been there twice with a group of 20 or more and its been a whole lotta fun. The food was delicious, again great for larger groups as banquet meals are great value and all refills are for free. We were all very full and more food kept coming! Belly dancers were there during dinner and some people from the group even had a bit of a dance! I went with friends and also colleagues. Just a great experience restaurant.
Also its BYO and no corkage! How good is that! and the staff offer to keep it in the frigde for you till you're ready to open the bottles. Last time we went we had beer/spirits/wine and everything was brought out only when we asked for it. Perfect service, great atmosphere! for a party of people - great!
Amazing food, brought out extraordinarily quickly. Everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Great atmosphere, so much fun, belly dancers and all! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We'll definitely be going back.
Just got back from Almustafas. We were 15 people and we each ordered a $45 banquet. The young lady told us before ordering that we could get extra top ups of food if we needed them but did not tell us that it would take between 40-60 minutes wait each time. They say on the website that you also get coffee and sweets with the banquet but none of us was given any.
Overall was disappointed because we had heard good things, we had planned to go there for a colleagues birthday but now will be looking at going elsewhere.
Firstly I would like to say that I rated the food, ambience and value based on previous visits to the restaurant. I scored service '0' because they forget about our booking for a party of more than 30 people (note: we called to confirm the booking the day before). When we arrived for our party, being Saturday lunch, the restaurant was closed. We waited on the footpath for 30 minutes trying to phone the restaurant with no success. The place should be renamed to 'Almustufya around'.
