I normally tend to stay away from Indian restaurants cos none I have tried so far in Sydney has ever been able to show a consistent originality or innovativeness with their dishes. Alas, this place was no exception.
The dishes on the menu were not anything you won't find in a mid-price restaurant and they tasted quite average too. I read a lot of good reviews but sadly this place disappointed me. For the price they charged, I'd expect to be surprised. Not that the dishes didn't taste well but nothing outstanding either. Good decor and service though.
Came here on a Saturday night early (6:45) when it was not that busy but by 7:30 it was packed. The tandoori platter for entrees was great as was the salt and pepper squid - get the squid for sure. The kingfish entree was to die for, it had so much flavour. Had the vindaloo for mains which was pretty good. If you want a nice meal, come earlier.
Not bad Indian food. Great flavours in some dishes although the serving size of some is too small. Great location which really enhances the overall dining experience. Service was good. Value for $ not bad but quite pricey for Indian.
We ordered a set menu plus an additional dish which was way too much food! Very tasty, although flavours were at times a bit overpowering, I prefer the more subtle Indian flavours, whereas these were a bit over the top. Nice layout, very good for conversation. The tables are too small; it was all a bit awkward once the food turned up because there was hardly any room. Good wine list. Good ambience if you get taken out to dinner by the in-laws, but probably wouldn't go there again with friends. Staff are very good however.
Great location! Matched with really good food and an even better wine list. But the close tables and the noise levels make it difficut to enjoy the meal thoroughly.
Had a lovely Friday lunch here. I found the food to be much better than your average Indian. It's true the meals weren't very hot, but for me good Indian food is about more than just heat. The flavours were interesting, sometimes unique, and both seafood and meat dishes were all beautifully tender. The wine list is fabulous. Of course, it's a lovely setting, outside on the wharf.
My boyfriend and I came here for a dinner before a show. We were misled by the reviews on this website because the food was mediocre at best and terrible value for money. The dishes and the curries definitely lack the flavour and kick that you would find in more authentic Indian places. Obviously, you are paying for the water view but the restaurant is the first on the wharf so it's not even that close the water or as a nice a view as the other restaurants.
I was expecting much much better food for the prices they charge. I would definitely NOT recommend this place unless you want to be ripped off for sub par Indian food and so-so water views.
