We followed Sanjay's recommendations and once again were very happy with his suggestions. On this, our seond visit we opted for a banquet. There was a good variety of dishes and at the end of the evening our table could not say which was the best dish, everything was excellent. Already we are looking forward to another visit to AJ's. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
My wife and I have been to AJ's a number of times and have had a really great dining experience each time. The specials are always good and the wait staff are very helpful in choosing a dish that suits your tastes, especially if one prefers a mild aromatic curry. The portions are deceptively substantial, - we find that if we share an entree and a dessert, two mains between us is more than enough.
Parking is easy and the place has a great buzz, but not too loud to drown conversation. We are trying to book a table for tonight, that's our endorsement!
Visited this restaurant recently based on the excellent reviews. Nice atmosphere and very helpful service but the food wasn't anything special, bit of a let down really. Probably will give it another try but we think there are better Indian restaurants including one in particular in a neighbouring suburb.
This place really rocks. I have visited hundreds of Indian restaurants all over the world and I can bet that Aj's is one of the finest. The food and the ambiance are as authentic as it gets coupled with the brilliant service this place is definitely not the one to miss. As I was reading the reviews I found two negative comments which I think is hogwash.
I have eaten here many times and also bought takeaway a lot. I rate this the best Indian meal for value in the area. The taste is clean and fresh with good variety of choices. Staff have always been polite and friendly. Servings can be a little on the small side.
After reading lot of comments about this restaurant I visited last saturday. In short,
below average meal, reasonable service. I don't think good comments are right about this restaurant.
Came here for my birthday with some friends. I thoroughly enjoyed the expereience. Sanjay was very attentive, giving us suggestions on what to order and making sure we did not order to much naan bread. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves curry! Definitely will be back here in the near future!
Really very delicious and wonderful food. Very few good indian restaurants in Sydney and Aj's is one of them with good customer service. Different and unique taste of punjabi subjiz than other restaurants. Good luck Sanjay and staff. Keep the good work going. I would love to visit Aj's again and again.
My husband and I called in to Aj's for an impromptu meal last night. We have been dining there for some time, thru a number of owners and I must say, last night was the best we've had there.
We had chicken tikka as a entree between us (only a small serve for $7.50) - the chicken was succulent and not too spicy. Then we had malai kofta (cheese dumplings in a cashew sauce), pista mergh chicken (cooked with pistachios), and lamb pudina with various spices, plain rice and plain naan. The food was really delicious, the sauces were really thick and tasty. At around $17.50 per dish we think it's a little steep for indian, but if you can say you enjoyed all the food, it's worth it. We took the leftovers home.
The service is always really good and as fellow reviewers have said, sanjay always takes time out to have a chat, and keeps tabs on his wait staff. We wish him well in the finals of the local awards, he has worked very hard to build the restaurant to where it is. Good luck, sanjay, and we'll definitely be back!
