For a restaurant visited by locals who haven't eaten at many other Indian restaurants, this one is certainly adequate. But for one who has, it was a little below par. The food was acceptable but not exciting. Even the mild curry was too hot for my non-chilli eating partner.
The service was OK, but the biggest letdown was the ambience of white painted concrete block walls. Next time, I want Indian, I'll probably go to Newtown.
Have been to Angi's about a year ago and enjoyed it. A cold snap in the weather and the thought of hearty Indian fare brought my family back. What a disappointment!
The food was fine but not outstanding. The serves were very small - bordering on mean and the cost was high. No complimentary pappadam (as the custom in most restaurants) everything here is charged for. Perhaps that is why there for only 4 other tables filled in the restaurant on a Saturday night. Will not return.
If you love authentic Indian food or have never tried it, this is the place to go. We have become regulars over the last couple of years after it was recommended to us. The menu often has some interesting new dishes which the owner will describe or suggest.
If any one is really interested in one of the most authentic (south) Indian food in Sydney don't miss this one. Fantastic food and liberal servings. Service is good. We visit this place at least once in a week and the best items to try are chicken tikka, Bothi kebab, lamb kerala and Behengan fry. Ask Reshmi (owner) she will suggest you a perfect order from the Menu. Don't be surprised if Reshmi suggests something out of the menu. Probably the best in Sydney, if you don't mind a above average ambience
Great food, very friendly and polite staff. Family run business that doesn't disappoint, portions could be slightly bigger, but you're definitely paying for quality here.
I dined here with a colleague during the middle of the week, and we were the only people in the restaurant, so we certainly had great service ! Perhaps some of the other customers were at home watching India vs England in the cricket.
The food was tasty and flavoursome, but a bit overpriced. Our entrees ( Mixed Platter ) only contained three pieces, yet were $11 each. The mains were a standard size, and the mixed seafood curry dish was excellent. There were some varied and unique dishes on the menu, so we'll try these another time.
Came here after work and was really impressed with the quality. We ordered the butter chicken and the lamb shank. Excellent value and a very satisfying meal. We also shared a crab entree which was a unique dish, I haven't tasted anywhere else.
Overall an excellent package and I will definitely be back with more people next time.
Booked a table for Valentine's day on the recommendation of an office colleague. The special three course banquet menu was very creatively constructed and offered a high value. The soft lighting was very appropriate for the occasion and made the evening more memorable.
The quality of food was superb. Peppery prawn starter, fish main curry and the butter chicken were truely standout dishes. Also the fig ice cream was the best we ever had. Very tasty food and different from most other Indian restaurants. The night has converted us to this suburban gem.
I will recommend this place highly to all and will be back to try some of the interesting dishes listed on the main menu.
Visited mid-week and we were one of only two couples so service was fine. Not too obtrusive or rushed. I thought the food was great and the servings seemed normal to me. (I'm only mentioning them because other posters here are giving the impression you get thimbles of food).
The only criticism I have is the lights were turned off in half the restaurant. I realise the other room wasn't going to be used midweek but it was a bit like eating in a half-closed shopping centre. Maybe a screen would help improve the intimacy and ambience.
Food was great and service was friendly and warm. For the price though servings should be bigger. I know they like to serve in those stainless bowls, but most restaurants I visit that use these have the cost musch less for each dish.
