Takeaway. Friendly, pleasant service. Restaurant looked welcoming. The diners there appeared to be enjoying themselves. Food was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but put it this way, I'll be going back to try some other dishes.
We dined quite early so it was really quiet and the service was very attentive. The butter chicken was the best, most subtle-flavoured and delicious I've ever had. The lamb korma was quite delicious too but not as tender. We found the serves enough for two to share but there wouldn't be enough for more people than that. The pappadums and accompanying dips were great but be warned, you have to pay for all of them, which was a bit of a hit at $12. It is on the pricier side of Indian food but it really was delicious so I would go back but not as my regular indian, more for a special night.
Food was a tad above average. The ambience is sub-standard. The waiters were very polite and helpful. However, that does not compensate for the lack of value for your money. Won't be going back unless they lower their prices.
Have dined here 3 times with family, usually midweek. Food is always good, spices are obviously fresh and service is unobtrusively efficient. My difficult to please teenager who "doesn't like Indian food" selects mild dishes and is always keen to visit again. Dishes are adequately sized and delicious. I like the fact that they turn off unused lights, more businesses should be energy-aware. Others at Darling Harbour may have better food but that is more than triple the price of Agni.
Came here once on a saturday night with some friends. I had the butter chicken and my friends ordered the tandoori chicken and beef vindaloo. All were so fresh and tasted so home cooked! The chilli naan bread is a must if you go! Can't wait to go back.
We are a group of 8 who visit restaurants outisde of our general area every 8 to 10 weeks.
Agni was the nicest Indian restaurant I have been too. What made it great was the different dishes on the menu and blackboard as well as the stock standard indian favourites. We were able to try some unusual dishes for a change. And it was all very tasty with a good kick to it.
Lucky for me I only live around the corner from this place. I often go here to sitin, as well as get takeaway.
Agni is one of the few places in Sydney that offered indian food that is true to tradition, and not changed/altered to suit Australias tastes. Its this tradition, and quality that makes the Agni food so amazing, fresh and pure. Service has always been amazing. Staff there are always friendly, kind, and are willing to offer suggestions to you in regards to the food. They have never stuffed up my takeaway orders either.
Overall, fantastic place to go. Prices are also very fair, and, the serving sizes are decent.
For a restaurant visited by locals who haven't eaten at many other Indian restaurants, this one is certainly adequate. But for one who has, it was a little below par. The food was acceptable but not exciting. Even the mild curry was too hot for my non-chilli eating partner.
The service was OK, but the biggest letdown was the ambience of white painted concrete block walls. Next time, I want Indian, I'll probably go to Newtown.
