Been here recently, the food is well below average and the service was rushed and unpleasant. Didn't like it, won't go back.

Went here after I got home from a 15 hour flight. All I wanted to do was eat and then go to bed! stumbled into the restaurant and we went had a seat downstairs. It's got a pretty nice vibe to the place, quite cosy. Food was yummy, we had some soft beef tacos and a quesadilla. Look the food here is good but it's expensive if you think about what you can get for the 1/3 of the price and the same quality at mad mex or guzman y gomez. But the place has got a good energy and the staff are super friendly. But I don't think I will be rushing back here in a hurry!

Attended a birthday party here with a group of 10. Setting is dark and warm. However, it was apparent that the air-con wasn't doing it's job of cooling the crowds in the restaurant. I was already sweating before the entree started!

We ordered the set menu with beer/sangria as extras. Never had Mexican so was surprised it was quite appealing. Some of the sauces are extremely hot so avoid if you can't take the heat. There was enough tapas to go around for us, and you basically wrap everything in the tortillas.

Overall a good dining experience, albeit I walked out like I had a sauna.

Not very good for vegetarians. Very pricey and not good value, small portions. It may be authentic but it wasn't a good feed, most of the meals were too mild. The atmosphere is more like a bar, you can't hear yourself speak. However, the staff were very good and helpful. The ingredients were very high quality.

I wouldn't go back, I'm not paying $30 for a small bowl of mild vegatables on an equally small bed of rice with two small rotis! Just because it's served in a clay pot, doesn't mean you can charge that.

My husband and I went to Agave for his Birthday. I chose it because we both like trying new restaurants, and my husband is partial to Mexican food (although not particularly Tex Mex).

The food lived up to expectations, and there was a nice selection of cocktails and Mexican beers that we chose from. The prices are good. The only downside for us was the noise. I appreciate that it's fantastic for parties, but the restaurant has 2 sections, with the upper one being smaller and quieter. If we had been seated there instead of being wedged between a large Birthday contingent and a hen's night, our ears might have survived and we may have been able to hear ourselves think. Good party atmosphere though! Next time we'll make sure we're sitting in that upstairs bit.

And just a few shots away is Agave, who’s flexed its Mex on Crown Street for a little while. Named after the Mexican plant- from which the nation’s nectar springs- this restaurant is all about authentic cuisine. Minus the cheese and sour cream stodge. Instead there’s pan-fried octopus with guajillo chilli, garlic and onion, and pollo en mole poblano- chicken simmered in exotic Mexican spices. No taco bull here...

Not losing sight that Mexican is not the greatest food in the world, the Agave experience was certainly not one I would recommend.

On arrival we were swiftly shown to our table, and shortly after had the over-priced banquet option thrown at us.

Instead the table opted for the main meals only, which was a mixture, chicken, fish, pork and beef.

On word rang out across the table after the meals and that was bland, bland, bland...

Value for money not really, good food not really, will I go back no chance!

Will never go to this place again. Went with a group of 10 people. Smallests and most expensive tapas of my life. Spent over $100 and still left unsatisfied. Only good thing to note is that the beers are cold even though sometimes it takes offering thru two waitresses to get one. Very squashy place, too many tables and well over priced, average food. Not recommended to anyone, save ur money and spend it somewhere worthwhile.

Was here on a Saturday night, place was packed. Set menu - pretty expensive, not BYO - Too many tables on the floor. $100 per head including drinks. Lucky I was dining with good mates. Don't think I will go back.

We feel completely ripped off! We had the $52 a head meal and did not see all of the choices (we never saw the mushrooms or pork dishes for example) All dishes tasted similar (made with the same base sauce) and the dishes were tiny and came in dribs and drabs. The service was pleasant enough but nothing was cleared from the table for some time. Acoustics terrible too. Overall, pretentious, overpriced and left us fuming. Why is this place still in business?
