Went with a group of six, looking forward to something different. We weren't given any menus when we arrived, struggling to get the waitress's attention to take our order. The restaurant wasn't very crowded, with plenty of spare tables.
Our entrees took over an hour to arrive and when they did, the portions were very tight. How it took that long to deep fry something is beyond me. After waiting a further 45 minutes for our mains, we decided we'd had enough and left with empty stomaches paying for only our entree. Stay away.
I went to this restaurant on 3rd July for my sisters birthday. I had ordered the rice and couscous, along with the eggplant and some bean dish. I didn't feel at all comfortable as the restaurant was quiet and I kept hearing the microwave whirring in the background with the frequent beeps.
I went to pay the bill and I could see into the kitchen, piles of plastic containers and the chef souping out the bean stew into bowls that had been heated by the microwave...surely restaurants shouldn't even have a microwave in them!!!!!!!??????????? Will not go here again.
The menu has been extended as has the size of the restaurant so it is much easier to get a table now. The wait staff were friendly and the food is wholesome and tasty. Portion sizes are not very big but it's a good excuse to order more dishes! Try the chappatti and order plenty of cous cous.
We came in a group of 20 people for someone's birthday, and they wouldn't allow us to order separate meals because it would be quote " easier for them to manage with" so we obliged and got set menus for 10 people.. 15 dollars each, the price of one meal for each person. The food came out in random fashion, and people honestly had 4-5 spoonfuls of food each... terrible experience... never go there.
I was very excited to try that restaurant, but was disappointed by the whole experience. We booked in advance but had to wait a bit, even though the waitress was very apologetic. She took our orders very quickly to make up for it which didn't help the table next to us who arrived after us to be served first.
In fact they forgot altogether to bring our entree, which we had after the mains, after we claimed it. The mains were delicious though (mix of different dishes: eggplant, spinach and black-eyed beans stews), lots of vegetarian options, the portions a bit small. However if you order the ladyfingers, don't expect ladyfingers, it's also a stew! The service was not over friendly, won't be back in a hurry... Pity because the food is quite good!
This place is worth a visit for people who wants to try something different. Flavours are awesome, we went for a birthday party and everyone in our group talked about it for more than a week. We are definitely going back. Highly recommends!!!!
We went here for a friends 30th - it is a small kind of dingy place, however the food is great. They were a little un-organised, and weren't ready at the booking time, however when we sat down the food (banquet) came out regularly.
The meals were delicious - great flavors, good portions and very satisfying - a little hard to see though because it is so dark. Well worth a visit!
My fiance and I have never had African food. Not really what I expected. He really enjoyed his food, he likes simple uncomplicated tastes. For me it was a bit bland. We are both vegetarian so maybe the meat dishes are better. He had the black beans, and I had the three-dish platter. I think the fufu is some sort of unflavoured polenta but that's a guess. I wouldn't go back but he says that he would so I suppose it's personal taste! Worth at least one visit I think.
