I went to African Feeling for a quick supper with my hubby and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While the interiors could do with a re-fresh (the kitsch murals are a bit much) the food was really, really tasty and the service quite attentive. I particularly liked the Nigerian black eyed pea dish and flatbread - yum!

I kind of liked this place ut as with so many places this end of Newtown, the owners appear too mean to pay for staff.

We were served by an amazing young Scottish waitress, you could tell she has a real passion for the restaurant.

The place was packed and had a nice atmosphere, but it was too much for the staff to cope with. The dishes we had were lovely, however, the other waitress on duty, kind of plonked the dishes in front of us and didn't appear to know what they were - we even got the same dish twice (banquet menu).

We did enjoy the food and flavours - I'd like to give this place another go as it has such potential.

We flew from Perth last friday and my mates introduced us to African Feeling. Oh my god! It was heaven on a plate. The food was exceptionally delicious. Even the service was great. The beautiful waitress informed us about Saturday night entertainment and guess what, we ended up coming back the next night and this time enjoyed great food with live drumming.

Definitely visiting African Feeling when we come to Sydney next. Highly recommended.

The disappointment began as soon as we arrived, we had a booking and arrived on time, but apparently they "weren't sure we were coming" so squeezed us onto a disappointing table outside.

The first thing you notice is that the menus are covered all over in bits of ugly electrical tape, indicating that nearly half the menu was unavailable!
They brought out the wrong entrees, but were at least apologetic. The beef cigars and vegetarian triangles were ok but taste like your typical spring rolls and curry puffs you'd get from your local asian takeaway.

Apart from the eggplant dish which was tasty, I found the mains to be quite bland. None of the food came out with any serving spoons either, and when we asked for some, were rudely told off that we were using up their last 3 spoons.

Portion sizes are tiny, one main per person was barely enough, especially since the rice/cous cous was only a couple of spoonfuls each (and a rip off at $4.50 a head). We were still hungry, but none of the desserts on the menu were available either, so we had to leave and go elsewhere for dessert.

Overall, too many misses and not enough hits, so won't be coming back.

From the moment we sat down I was disappointed. I'd been to African feeling before, maybe 4 years ago, and it was absolutely fantastic. I came back with my husband a week ago and it was awful. Half of what was on the menu was not actually available, we had to try to order 4 times before we found something they actually had, and no hibiscus juice?! Then, we waited what seemed an eternity for our entrees, which seemed to have been bought from the Thai shop down the road, I'd hardly call curry puffs and spring rolls African food.

For what you get, the prices are outrageous. Tiny portion sizes. The food itself was lovely, albeit a little plain but we certainly won't be going back.

I was hoping the bad reviews were wrong, but I'm afraid they weren't far off the mark. Food took aaaaages to come out, our waitress was high (seriously, she was on something) & kept giving us the wrong mains. Our two entrees (plaintain chips & the dumplings) were yummy, but very small portions for $10.50 each. We ordered four main meals, with two delivered at once, then a 10 minute gap between the following two and the rice. It took forever. When we got the bill, the rice was $14! Per head it was $4, fair enough, but we only got maybe 3 cups for that. So in short, service sucked, food was average and too expensive. Wouldn't visit again, sorry guys.

Was here last night with 2 friends. Staff were very friendly, good service.
Food was amazing, flavours, perfect combination of subtle spices that would make anyones taste buds want to salsa.

Atmosphere was good, no music or entertainment but a great place to enjoy a meal as a couple or small group. I'm a fussy eater and frown upon bad service in other words I have high standards. Best African food I've ever had in Sydney.

Highly recommend the meat entree wrapped in pastry and the Dovi main course with cous cous. Oh and even the dessert was very tasty although I did struggle to finish it as I was stuffed.

I don't know much about african cuisine, so all I can say is that what I ate here was very good. I had some kind of chicken and I swear the name of the dish was kuku na nazi, which I thought was hilarious (nazi chicken) my mate had some lamb cooked in a tagine and we both shared some entrées. I wish there were more african eateries in sydney as I did enjoy the food here and it would be nice to have these kinds of places around.

This is probably the only place in Sydney to find truly authentic West African food, so everyone should try it.

What we loved: The food was very tasty, particularly the goat and spinach based dishes. Definitely unique flavours. We had the big menu for 6 and thought the value was fine for $40 per person. It's also BYO so you save money.

What we didn't like: There is only 1 waitress. She is nice, but spends half her time in the kitchen, so we had to go up to the counter to get her attention and order dishes (she did not come to our table within the first 25 minutes of us getting there). The water was never refilled until we walked up to the counter again. However, the bill was brought to the table without even requesting it, which is definitely not best practice. They need another attentive waitress badly.

Great food and great atmosphere. It was one of the best restaurant food we have had for some time. It's a great African themed ambience. Also, it was nice to have a chat with Hudu, the owner of the place at the end. He was warm, together with the rest of the staff.
