A great meal before the show! We loved the mezze platter. Our only criticism is that it is slightly expensive but probably par for the cbd. Great service.
We were really looking forward to partying and eating traditional Greek food. We wanted to feel the zorba atmosphere which was not present and the food lacked the home cooked taste and seemed like a controlled portion. Not recommended.
Went there for a friend's 30th, the place was dead even on a Saturday night. The place had no atmosphere but I'm sure it is not always like that. Anyway I ordered the Baby Octopus which was served on a lettuce leaf and baby it was.... about 5 mouthfuls and it was gone..... that was it and it cost nearly $30!! For dessert we had the Baklava which was pretty ordinary, most people from the group had half and left it behind, and for $12.50 you would expect better.
Overall I would never go back, nothing is worse than walking out of a restuarant feeling ripped off!!
Not sure what Thomas 77 is about. What dish did he have? There were 8 of us last thursday and we found the portions and quality great value. Nothing we had was over $30. The best Greek food we've had in ages.
A huge group of us went on a Saturday night to farewell our cousins back to Greece. The food is not as fresh and as well portioned as one would think, being in a Greek establishment. We like to eat when we pay for food. Either have something in your tummy before you go or prepare to go elsewhere after. However, we are a group with alot of kefi, so we made the best of the night with dancing and breaking plates, and yes you do pay for the plates, which is expected really. Do not come here just for the food and srevice, you will be disappointed.
I was armed with prior knowledge about this place, unfortunately, I had no choice but to attend my friends 30th birthday and depart from my hard earned money for a banquet which seemed to never evolve from tiny starter dishes to decent sized dishes. I had to wait 30 minutes to be asked “whataya gonna have ta drink” followed by another 15 minutes to be served my $7.50 local beer.
The food came out in tiny portions so small it was obvious they were halving the already small servings. Not to be negative, I am all about quality not quantity, however, the food perfectly matched the service, “Average”. Corners were cut you could taste the meat was reheated, the chicken pieces were stingy and the lamb was dry. Luckily there was some tzadziki left to drench the piece of dry lamb I shared with my wife.
There were two small salad bowls spread across a table sitting 15 people I managed to enjoy a single fetta cube with a ring of Spanish onion and a wedge of tomato. (Not bad for $50.00 per person). It’s a real shame for those who selected this place to sample authentic Greek food for the first time only to be disappointed.
Ah, I'd just like to respond to 'worst greek restaurant in Sydney' - ah, have you been to that one in Crown St? They outsource their cooking for gods sake! I have been going to Aesops since it started out in Double Bay something like 10 yrs back. Same owner/mc, james, puts his all in every single time! Tastiest greek food in Sydney, plentiful amounts as is 'all you can eat' banquet menu, most succulent souvlaki I've had since visiting the islands.
Just went to Aesops for the 5th time, 2nd time with a large group, again without fail, it was brilliant, great food (and lots of it!!), great service from staff, especially the owner/manager who made us feel always welcome., and with brilliant entertainment with their traditional greek smashing plates and dancing, we all (including all other guests/tables) danced our hearts and feet out to a variety of music to the end of the night, it's wonderful there! See you Aesops for the x'mas function!!!!
Worst Greek Restaurant in Sydney! Food is lousy, greasy and not enough, very very small portions left everyone hungry. Drinks are grossly overpriced ($7.50 for a bottle beer in a restaurant??) and the staff are rude. Was trying this place out for a Christmas function but won't ever go back or recommend it to anyone!
