The first time I came to Adagio's I was welcomed with friendly staff. My friends and I were offered menus and water immediately as we sat down. The friendly staff kindly took our oredr. Our food came out reasonably fast. The food was amazing! We all ordered dessert which again was delicious! The cafe had a nice and chilled vibe to it and all of my friends and I would definitely recommend this particular cafe to anyone and everyone!

I suggested Adagio's as I wanted some place local. My son told me about a few reviews and read some but said lets give it a go. I rang to enquire about wheelchair friendly and was told yes very, a start. I asked about the rest rooms are they disable friendly and was told that in one move two male employees can lift the wheelchair and would be ok so I went ahead and booked for 5.
Our friends were there before us and had ordered drinks we sat and water arrived and we were asked if we would like drinks and yes we ordered. I a wine hubby a beer and son he ordered an ear what ever that was, never got to find out. My daughter-in-law ordered for her main an antipasto and requested it as a main and to be served with the other mains ordered. No one ordered an entree as we intended to have dessert. Along came her antipasto and 5 small plates as if the dish was to be shared hmm.
My son eventually told staff that it was ordered as a main not an entree just in case they waited for us to finish the dish and she apologised and said mains would be around 5 minutes, mean while the drinks they ordered arrived but not the ear drink. My sons meal came 1st he ordered seafood platter and I took one of his chips and said oh gosh it is cold, then my meal came and sure enough the meal was Not hot and the steak was very grizzly and I wasn't even offered a steak Knife.
Anyway, ok back to the disable facility. My hubby who is wheel chair bound needed to use the facility so I informed the girls and they all looked dumbfounded ummmmmm I told them I had asked before I booked about the bathroom facility and so they saw Chris and oh yes no worries we will lift him up the stair which turned out to be 3 steps. Ok they did give me their due But the rest rooms were Not disabled toilets just as well I had brought with me a male bottle to use or my husband would have been very embarrassed.
Then the best part, now for the coming down the stairs.. welllllllllll my husband was half way out the chair as they tried to lift him down the stairs it was really scary but he did make it. I faced my meal which by this time was stone cold and the steak I couldn't face anymore. I was upset about the whole meal and the bathroom debacle. The staff have no experience and very unfriendly and they do Not listen to requests.
So much for dessert I didn't order any and either did anyone else, we asked for the bill and one thing in their favour I was Not charged for my meal but the "ear" drink whatever it was we were charged $6 for that which we didn't get but couldn't be bothered challenging them over $6 so left paying what was owed and no tip. The girls need to listen and be more attentive and smile and make customers feel welcome.
One of the girls need to take ballet lessons our table shoock each time she walked past. I will not be going back but will look at reviews to see if any improvements will happen. This is Not a wheelchair friendly restaurant so don't be told otherwise the only thing they have is a ramp to enter the restaurant.
Response from Management:
"One of the girls need to take ballet lessons our table shoock each time she walked past"... this sort of sums it all up... this girl is a very friendly, efficient, professional, waitress... and is ably supported by a few professional dance instructor/part-time waitresses... humblest apologies that I failed to put together a complete team of professional dance instructors.
Its all about respect and appreciation... she and my whole team "busted a boiler" so-to-speak, to provide a great day for your family gathering and the the other tables on that very busy day.
Fortunately, the rest of your family(ironically)and every other customer that day, showed ample respect and appreciation, even if there were a few minor hiccups... and humblest apologies for these, because I know they never happen in any other cafe or restaurant.
All The Best

I went there recently. Really nice food, but service was lousy. I felt neglected and ignored, that nobody was interested. How long does it take to get a glass of water, if they'd just showed me where the tap was, I would've got it myself. No execuse for poor service these days.

Great place, great food, good service. I would definitely recommend this cafe to everyone, and I would particularly recommend the pizzas and the steaks. The outside area is especially good in the summertime.

Went to Adagios for the first time last week and had a great experience. It's right next to the George's River with a great atmosphere inside and out. Great variety of food, tender steaks, as well as coffee that was made properly for us hardened coffee lovers! And thanks to the great staff you are not left waiting when you arrive which is one of my pet hates with service at most cafes we visit. Have been there 3 times now and recommend it if you are nearby.

My wife booked my 50 birthday party at Adagio's I have to say we could not have done better. The food was great, service was great and the night was fantastic. We were looking for a small place for dinner with our closest friends It was fantastic. Compliments to everyone at Adagio's.

My wife, 2 kids and parents-in-law have dined twice at this establishment. Unfortunately neither occasion was one that we could say we enjoyed.
The first time was in March 2011 for breakfast with my wife. It was lovely day with a few showers. Only one other couple sitting inside and a group of 5 sitting outside (this group had already finished and their table needed clearing).
We sat outside and it took about ten minutes for any of the girls that were on to acknowledge us, which only occurred after one of them decided to clear the big table and I grabbed her on her way back in, otherwise she would have walked straight past us.
We finally ordered our lattes and breakfast. It took about 15 minutes for the first latte to be brought out to us. We had to tell the girl that brought it out that we'd ordered 2. The 2nd latte followed about 5 minutes later after I brought it to the attention of one of the other girls.
The breakfasts, one was poached eggs and the other plain toast finally arrived after another long wait. We were not happy with the service.
A couple of months later we were trying to work out where to go for breakfast with my in-laws and 2 kids locally, and my father in-law suggested Adagio's. We decided to give it another go under the guise that the first time may have been just an off day.
We got a table inside. It was quite busy. One of the staff came to take our order promptly. As we started ordering we asked the girl if we could omit one item from each of the kids meals, to which she said we could, however, once we explained what we wanted left out, she became very confused.
Without saying anything to us she walked away. We saw her talking to a gentleman near the till, and about a minute later he came over and started reading out the order the girl had written which was wrong, including the coffees.
We laughed it off and asked him to start again, to which he persisted to try and work out where the girl had erred. This became very confusing and he even told us we'd given the girl the order wrong. This was frustrating. We finally convinced him to start afresh, to which once he started reading out the new order he also had it wrong.
Anyway, the meals came out and they were very nice. What we are disappointed with is the service. It was awful and amateurish on both occasions. The wait staff seemed far too inexperienced.
We do enjoy laid back wait staff, however, when they seem so lacking in experience, I don't like it. We are locals, and unfortunately prefer to drive to Padstow or all the way to Croydon and enjoy the laid-back service we get from cafe's in those suburbs.
It would be fantastic if Adagio's could improve in this respect, and we'd happily support a local.
Response from Management:
Adagios has been operating for 18 months now, and I acknowledge that there were a few “Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares” in the first 9 or 10 months. Then I managed to get our “always-open” operation pretty well sorted after that, with a very professional and dynamic bunch of staff. Proof of this lies in the fact that we are now serving about 200 customers each day on weekends and about 100 customers every weekday. Most days, 99% of these customers are VERY happy with the food and service. Many of them “raving” about the quality of both food and service in particular, our amazing Tasmanian steaks.

All busy cafes are frustrated by customized orders! Our systems and price structures are set up for standard menu items so the waitress can write down a simple code for the item then hit 1 button on the till...so the kitchen receives an instantly recognizable 1-line print-out and quickly goes into auto-mode to cook the item the way they have done it many times before.

Special-requirement meals throw this efficient system out the window and slow down the whole process, causing delays in service. Waitresses have to write down their understanding of what the customer requires, then attempt to key in a description of these special requirements, then talk to the kitchen to ensure they fully understand these modifications, then have everyone triple-check the variations, then attempt to get the special meal to the correct customer, while everybody is trying to grab any meal that sounds vaguely like what they ordered.

Given all this, it is common that something goes wrong! Hence the token $2 surcharge for every mod to standard menu items. Service works a LOT better with patient, appreciative people who have an understanding of how a cafe works, and where people are at.

We have a philosophy of 'continuous improvement' here and are constantly focused on providing better service. This is evidenced by both the continually increasing revenue and the continually increasing percentage of VERY happy customers.

We have been only twice to your establishment and both times it was a dissappointment, first time was mothers day 2010, my food was tasteless and the kids meals of chicken shnitzel, well let's say my kids didn't eat it, again very bland with no flavour whats so ever, service was terrible, bad memories.
Second visit was for breakfast 2 saturdays ago. Thought we might give it another go, surely breakfast couldn't be a problem. Got there at 10am, no greet no acknowledgement, so we sat down inside, again with my kids, waiting for menus, none came, got my own from counter, again, not even a look.
20 minutes had gone by, no one came, couldn't get any ones attention, maybe because they had 2 young kids as staff that day. I remembered the owner from last time and saw him behind coffee machine so I knew it was same person as my mothers day visit. Decided to pack up and leave, still not a thing from staff, meanwhile, another table of 2 had decided to cancel their order after their wait and left.
I know this because we sat next to them, they were there just before we arrived and that's not all, a table that had arrived the same time as we did left at the same we did, with no food. Sir, I find it impossible that your cafe will change it's poor customer service. You need to actually ask yourself, do you want to be in the customer service industry. If you do, you need to change. I will not be coming a third time, that I can assure you of. I don't know you, have nothing against you. Chris from Georges Hall.

Adagios Restaurant is just a delightful setting among the trees and near the river, an oasis in a busy city. Food was great, and Chris and his staff looked after us with friendly, efficient and generous service. Just a delight. Will definitely go back.

Today, I visited Adagio's Cafe. I had a steak sandwich, and it was absolutely beautiful! I've been there multiple times before, and have enjoyed a milkshake, which was lovely, and a great price! My brother has had pancakes, which were very well priced, and delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone, because it is a great place to eat, with a lovely atmosphere!
