My husband and I stayed in Sydney for three weeks and only discovered this gem of a restaurant in our last week here, which is unfortunate, because it's a lovely place. The restaurant is small, antique, and very intimate, like our favorite Italian restaurant back home. The menu really does have something for everyone (as advertised). Every portion of food was perfectly done and quite tasty, and in good-sized portions. This is a far cry from the bland, overpriced or over-eccentric selections we've had from restaurants around The Rocks in recent weeks. Our favorite part is the service, as we were waited on by a glowing waitress we can only assume is the restaurateur, who had great recommendations and a genuine concern and interest in her customers. Overall: Acacia is not too snobby, not too low brow. Just right! If it were in my hometown, we'd eat there once a week.
Have been to this resaurant at least 3 times. The waitor is always friendly and professional and quick. Each time we have been he has been on his own and manages well-never leaving us long. The ambience is warm the restaurant always feels quiet romantic. The food is very good, tasteful and cooked to perfection. Great wine list also. We don't tend to go very often because the menu is small and doesn't seem to change too much though. So we only go when I crave soft shell crab.
We had a lovely meal at Acacia just last week during our visit to Sydney and wanted to leave a review as a thankyou for the excellent service and quality of the meal we had.
Marie was friendly and helpful, providing useful advice on the menu and assisting with a choice of a suitable wine to go with our selection. Our waiter, Alex, was attentive and the service was excellent. All in all a great experience and we will be sure to return if we get back tro Sydney in the future!!
I looked at the last four reviews in amazement.... No doubt these are from the staff and owners because my experience was 180 degrees opposite. I ordered a medium rare steak and waited an hour to receive something that was well done and basically inedible. When I mentioned this to waiter he actually looked at me with disdain and brought back another that had been clearly microwaved. The staff were unorganized and fighting with each other. The food was bland at best and the wine menu was one of the most unusual/eclectic I have yet seen. This certainly ranks in my top five worst dining experiences in Sydney. Stay away!
Had a wonderful evening at Acacia last night with my special friend. The service was fantastic, treading the perfect balance of friendliness and room, giving us the opportunity to add a touch of intimacy to our conversations and our night. And the food was pretty tasty also, both the steak and kangaroo were fantastic. Will definitely return
In all we had a fantastic experience at Acacia. The location is Superb, the food devine and the service second to none. Acacia has been recommended to me a number of times and glad we finally got down there for dinner. Do yourself a favour and try it for yourself.
I attended a preorganised event at Acacia and had a fantastic experience. Food was great, well seasoned and cooked the way I wanted it and it was a generous helping. The service was prompt and the ability to cater for me outside the set menu was much appreciated. I loved the feel and vibe of the restaurant and will definitely return.
Love this little restaurant down in the Rocks. Been there half a dozen times recently and always enjoy the food, service and lovely Marie's company. Highly recommended.
I was at the same function as elsamari & UKJackie and I can say that I had a fantastic time. The ambience was great, the food and service were perfect. Well done and thank you for a lovely evening.
Having been at the same pre-organised event as mentioned by elsamari I thought it required to post a valid & subjective review on the venue.
If you take the time to compare their previous reviews where surprisingly they give all 9's or all 10's to an establishment i have found it hard to justify their review of Acacia which just happened to be posted on the same day.
The event we were at was a get together of like minded people for an evening of wine-tasting & meal in the surrounds of a quaint old location.
The management of Acacia took the needs of the group in mind & were more than happy to close the restaurant to the public in order to provide us with a level of service which was above what is generally expected at these engagements. The Wagyu beef provided as the main course was cooked to my specification & tasted absolutely brilliant, the selection of wines arranged by the management was also very complimentary to the meal provided & the actual charm & charisma of the owner/manager was part of the reason why I will happily return to the Acacia for a genuine experience in what can be a pretentious area of Sydney.
