I gave up eating in the cafe long ago because they always served the order incorrectly or forgot it. However, I love their coffee and as a takeaway it's and unlike most of their produce, reasonably priced too.

I went with my wife and brother in law to About Life Café on a Sunday for brunch. We ordered 3 breakfast specials with chorizo, bacon and mushrooms. The chorizo was sour. Scrambled eggs were rubbery and poached eggs too runny. Overall, the meal was mediocre and not worth the 55 dollars we paid.

The concept of healthy organic food is what makes this place unique. While not having a huge variety they do a good deal of special dishes every week. Nice simple healthy food is what you get here, and that they do well. If you want a burger and chips, go clog your arteries up somewhere else.

Besides the concept, everything about About Life is terrible. If you want a takeaway drink or coffee then you have to put up with rude, extremely slow service and burnt coffee. If you want to buy groceries, expect to find mouldy bread on the shelves and dairy products past their use-by date.

If you order from their catering service, expect it to be delivered outside the requested time frame and to have an argument about it if you complain. Plenty of other better options in the area and don't be fooled into thinking it's the only place to offer options for those on special diets.

Overall, expect to pay a lot for very, very little!

20 minute wait for breakfast at 11 am, for bacon and eggs after paying at the register by the rudiest customer service rep. I can now see why you pay before you eat there. After waiting 20 minutes the bacon come out boiled (boiled looking with white froth) no crispy bacon here. After asking if it can be crisped up (10 minutes later when the toast on my plate is now cold it wasn't any different. So I left the bacon, eggs and 1/2 toast there.

I eat out a lot, everyday for many years. This would top the worst ever, I don't like to complain but this was the first where I went to balmain to re order breakfast. I called the manager, she was very nice but said that the lady behind the counter was german and she just comes across that way (what a strange way of putting it).

I definitely will not be dining there again and haven't. Top Deck Cafe in Balmain is Chef quality and breakfast is great with many unusual breakfast options.

I've been here many times and it doesn't disappoint. The menu is fantastic for vegetarians as there is a great selection from their menu and ready-made meals from their display. Meat eaters are not left out either as there are beef burgers (gourmet style) and other selections.

There is a wide selection of cakes, pastries too and it also serves gluten free foods as well. I've had the tofu burger (done with thick bread, beetroot spread, sweet mustard and chuncky potato chips with skin), the haloumi burger is fantastic and a bargain at $10. Just go along and try the food as it doesn't disappoint. The service is prompt and polite, but it can take a little while for the food to come out. But that's not a problem cos in the meantime you can have a good browse at their organic/healthy/alternative supermarket with great specials and sample tasting.

Value is excellent, the food is fresh and of good quality. It works out to be $50 for 3 including coffee. I see lots of people coming in for their fresh juices and smoothies so it must be good.
