Overview
Ablaze Grill + Bar is located in the heart of the entertainment quarter (formerly Fox Studios). Spread over three levels, Ablaze provides a vibrant, fun and exciting atmosphere with an alfresco dining experience without breaking the budget. We serve a wide range of the finest chargrilled meats and seafood, and an exciting tapas style entree selection.
All this is combined with a stellar wine selection, luscious cocktails and views over the Moore Park Precinct. Ablaze provides friendly service in a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere. A fabulous choice for a corporate function with a difference.
One of the better grill restaurants I have been to in awhile. The menu is pretty good with reasonable options for those who don’t love meat like my partner who whinges every time I feel like eating in a steakhouse. The slab of meat I had was great, but it was the garlic mushrooms that really impressed me. I loved them. I will be back soon.
Their new policy is outrageous. They now do not take bookings on busy nights. So, on the advice of the person on the phone, we got there early to find the place nearly empty and several reserved tables. When placing our order they told us they had a new method for serving meals, they would bring the entree and main course together at the same time.
After some discussion with the manager he retracted this new policy "because they weren't busy". I have never been to a restaurant that does this, even pub food!! Steaks were excellent. Blue Cheese and Vodka sauce was brilliant. Menu describes "steak chips" but they are just common packet fries.
Staff were pushy to process us through quickly and we had to send them away many times. The saddest was seeing a single man on the next table asked to leave after being seated and given a menu. As he was dining alone they wanted the table for a group of 3 and was asked to leave the restaurant as they had no other tables. How humiliating for this poor guy.
It happened so fast otherwise I would have invited him to join us as we had a spare seat at our table but the way the staff were behaving they probably would have forbidden that also. It appears profit is before customer satisfaction.
Bathroom was filthy. If they can provide a more relaxed and caring service to their diners and become more customer focussed this place can become a great restaurant. And then the profits will look after themselves.
Ate here on a Sunday night after watching cirque du soleil so the place wasn't too busy & we were seated immediately. The food came out quick & our mains were cooked well & tasted very nice. The service was excellent & will definitely be back the next time we are @ the entertainment quarter.
With a bit of prompting from the Entertainment book, we found Ablaze on a Monday night to be a good choice. Parking is easy, it was a quiet night so service was attentive and food was out quick and just right. I really enjoyed my entree of scallops and main rib-eye steak cooked to perfection. Will definitely consider this place again.
I've been here a few times purely because out of all of Fox's Restaurants this is the only decent one still around. I found that the staff are really young and have limited knowledge of the menu. The food was good, nothing spectacular. The place is nice, other than that I'd say it was average.
Maybe because the circus was on, but the place was reasonably busy, yet no atmosphere. Food was very average, run of the mill kind of food. As someone else said, just pub food in my honest opinion!
A woeful night was had last Sunday night at this restaurant. The ribs were fine - actually succulent and tasty but that was it! The tempura batter fish was more like a frozen dinner but not as good and the chicken burger was dry and tasteless and contained some grainy texture which was most unpleasant. All meals were cold. Add to that very poor service (we even had to collect our own wine from the bar after waiting 15 minutes) and dirty rest room facilities it was a great disappointment and overpriced.
Two of our four meals were only 1/4 eaten yet no comment was made by the wait staff. The table next to us received the wrong meal and their wine came at the end of their meal! Very strange. It took the restaurant five days to reply to me email which I also think is poor. Wish I had read some of these reviews before I went.
