I frequently visit Abduls for a nice meal. It is best to go in a group with about 3 or more people so you can order different things from the menu. The more people you have the cheaper the food will become and everyone will leave very satisfied.
Their desserts are fantastic and you would be crazy not to grab some on your way out.
But I would like to suggest to people to go to the bathroom before so you do not need to use their bathrooms.
The best lebo food in the country. I have been eating here for years and its amazing! If you are looking for a fine dining setting with beautiful surrounds then this not the place, however, if you can see past that and enjoy tradition, culture and fantastic home made food then this is the place for you. Worth every cent!
We went to a friend's 25th birthday party about two weeks ago, we had booked the party room for 12 people and arrived on time, however, the room was still occupied and we were asked to wait about 5 minutes later we were offered the smaller room out the back which fits about 6-8 people.
The waiter who served us seemed hot and bothered and basically threw the menus at us, while he left us to order an unsightly roach ran across the wall, when we brought this to the waiters attention he dismissed our concerns, worst service ever, we were later transferred into the larger room after we ate our dinner and the belly dancer arrived which seemed to lighten our moods, food was okay but the overall experience terrible.
An icon for years. I've eaten here several times and have always been satisfied with the large quantities of basic Lebanese fare at good prices. Stay away from the toilets which are very sub standard. I've always BYO'd and they don't advertise or charge for.
Been going to Abduls since the 70's the best falafel this side of Beirut the very best lebanese food, nutritious, delicious. The staff are charming, love them all.
I have to say, I really loved the food when a friend and I ordered take away. It was really lovely and this was after being carried home and eating it not as fresh as I would sitting in the restaurant. I raved about it to my husband, so we decided to go and eat in the restaurant. I have to say the place was pretty dingy.
The service was awful. The man who waited on us basically threw us the menus and came back not a minute later to ask us "what do you want?". My husband was so enraged at how rude the man was that he made me cancel our order and went to Fatima's. I didn't care how rude the man was because the food is great. Just beware and shrug off the rudeness if you can because the food is worth it to me.
So funny seeing negative comments here. Granted, not the most grandiose venue in Sydney and not the most eloquent service, but the quality and taste of the food is undeniable. I often eat their take away, and my last visit was for dinner with three friends. We ordered far too much, but included much variety and with drinks included, the bill came to circa $90 - How's that for value? What you want in food.
Freshness, impressive taste and a nice amount, is exactly what we got. I don't often 'ten' food, but I must be honest. Some claim this is the best Lebanese in Australia. I haven't eaten Lebanese all over to verify or refute that claim. I can say, however, that this is the best Lebanese I've tasted, in any restaurant. My friends concur. BTW if you’re a garlic lover, try the garlic sauce.
Dining at Abdul's is a sensory delight. The authentic Arab decor, the decadently-arrayed curtains, the polite (and sexy) staff, the beautiful baba ganush. Everything about this place is conducive to a wonderfully nourishing and relaxing experience.
This place is just great value and it's the real deal. It is even cheaper if you only want take away. The fresh lemon juice is perfect. The falafels and ladys fingers are fantastic. The tabouleh is always fresh whilst the hoummos is creamy with a touch of drizzled oil.
We eat as much as we like from the menu and it is always less than $45 for two people. I have been coming here for more than 20+ years and the only thing that has not changed in that time is the ricketty staircase and the toilets (which just adds to the excitement of the evening).
The food is ordinary and terribly overpriced. The staff are incompetent, rude and should never be in a customer facing role. There are far better Lebanese restaurants around town. They will never see my money again!
