Very good but basic Lebanese cuisine. Have been going here for many years (menu basically the same). Not fancy surrounds so you go for the food. I certainly recommend the fresh lemons juice (we get it by the jug) and the dips. I am picky about babaganoush yet love the one here. My brother is a houmus fan and has tried many from around Sydney and overseas and says it's probably the best.
Lovely falafels especially with tahini sauce (I have had some in Sydney that were doughy or bland). They also do very good chicken skewers with fantastic 'garlic sauce' (Not the chicken on the big roll for kebabs), very good lamb skewers (I like mine medium rare), very good tabouleh, coriander potato and fried cauliflower. Fatoush salad is made fresh, and best eaten straight away. I'm not fond of the kebbe (usually heated up and a little dry).
Service is 'patchy' sometimes surly. Very good takeaway kebab sandwich/roll although we often get several dishes to go. They also have better than average turkish delight and baklava. The desserts are a little bit more to eat in, but with lebanese coffee makes a great finish to a meal.
We went to celebrate a family birthday. Because a few of our party had been there before, one of them suggested we order 2 banquet plates amongst 5 of us, saying it was more than enough (3 of our party were young people with smallish appetites). The waitress was foul tempered, very annoyed at us and wouldn't take our order. She was getting the seniior staff, she said, and he duly came (after a long wait), and was equally disgusted when we stuck to our guns and ordered what we wanted - plus some extra kebabs.
The woman continued to be ill tempered with us and frankly, while the food was very good value, the poor quality of the service and the general griminess of the place means I certainly won't be spending my money there again. I was interested to see her do the same thing to the adjacent table. If it hadn't been the birthday boy's chocie of venue I would've left without ordering.
Yum but don't go to the toilet here, scary and dirty! All the vegetable salads are nice, service is friendly but still, overall, it's just okay. Go to Auburn if you want this kind of food. Go to sushi suma if you're in surry hills.
I've eaten here a few times now and while service may not be all that friendly, the food is always great and plentiful, and the fresh lemon juice is amazing (and so hard to describe). Good value for money and I always look forward to eating there.
I frequently visit Abduls for a nice meal. It is best to go in a group with about 3 or more people so you can order different things from the menu. The more people you have the cheaper the food will become and everyone will leave very satisfied.
Their desserts are fantastic and you would be crazy not to grab some on your way out.
But I would like to suggest to people to go to the bathroom before so you do not need to use their bathrooms.
The best lebo food in the country. I have been eating here for years and its amazing! If you are looking for a fine dining setting with beautiful surrounds then this not the place, however, if you can see past that and enjoy tradition, culture and fantastic home made food then this is the place for you. Worth every cent!
We went to a friend's 25th birthday party about two weeks ago, we had booked the party room for 12 people and arrived on time, however, the room was still occupied and we were asked to wait about 5 minutes later we were offered the smaller room out the back which fits about 6-8 people.
The waiter who served us seemed hot and bothered and basically threw the menus at us, while he left us to order an unsightly roach ran across the wall, when we brought this to the waiters attention he dismissed our concerns, worst service ever, we were later transferred into the larger room after we ate our dinner and the belly dancer arrived which seemed to lighten our moods, food was okay but the overall experience terrible.
An icon for years. I've eaten here several times and have always been satisfied with the large quantities of basic Lebanese fare at good prices. Stay away from the toilets which are very sub standard. I've always BYO'd and they don't advertise or charge for.
Been going to Abduls since the 70's the best falafel this side of Beirut the very best lebanese food, nutritious, delicious. The staff are charming, love them all.
I have to say, I really loved the food when a friend and I ordered take away. It was really lovely and this was after being carried home and eating it not as fresh as I would sitting in the restaurant. I raved about it to my husband, so we decided to go and eat in the restaurant. I have to say the place was pretty dingy.
The service was awful. The man who waited on us basically threw us the menus and came back not a minute later to ask us "what do you want?". My husband was so enraged at how rude the man was that he made me cancel our order and went to Fatima's. I didn't care how rude the man was because the food is great. Just beware and shrug off the rudeness if you can because the food is worth it to me.
