Mid-week, mid-winter, there was no problem getting a seat and making our order. The kitchen was extremely clean and the food very tasty - it's true that you should definitely give the bok choy and corn on the cob sides a try!
My only criticism is that there should be salt and pepper on every table, I had to get up and down about 4 times to grab all of the utensils I needed. There is no service whatsoever at A fish Called Paddo, it's sort of quality fast food with the price to match! (And be warned... cash only.)
What a pity this place has really deteriorated. It was a favourite but it must have changed hands. Our fish was very over cooked and dried out. The staff seem to be new, were inattentive when we wanted to place our order and were wearing dirty clothes. We won’t be back, after this very disappointing experience. Not to be repeated!
Had a great dinner here with a party of 9 people. We all shared some marinated/grilled calamari and octopus to start. Everyone loved their main, and we all had something different. We also shared 2 plates of salad, 2 plates of bok choy, several bowls of chips, and we all had the corn on the cob with Balinese sauce, super delicious! I ordered the trout marinated in basil and chilli, it was 10 out of 10!
The setting is ultra-casual which I love (it's great when you can wear thongs to dinner). The only complaint I have is they had ricotta cheese on the salad and they should use fetta instead, ricotta is too bland. They don't charge corkage which is great! It only cost $25 a head!! I would highly recommend this place, I can't wait to go back.
I believe Wagga is talking about "A Fish called Coogee" as if there are water views from "A Fish Called Paddo" he must be hallucinating! My partner and I had a grilled fish steak each, 2 drinks, small chips and corn for $40. It was expensive for what we got but the fish was delicious - marinated and cooked to perfection.
The waitress was nearly useless and so obviously didn't want to be there. However, will definitely go back whenever we can afford to splash out a little bit more on a casual can't-be-bothered-to-cook-ourselves dinner as it's hard to find simple healthy food done so well.
This place is always busy, so I decided to get some grilled fish take away. Service was great, the variety of fish flavours were good but at $40 per kg very pricey. Went for a $6.50 grilled special - it was terrible.
I go here daily due to the breathtaking water views, it's as if you'r right on the water (or maybe in it). My partner and I adore the streak diane the speciality of a fish called paddo. one thing, ive always wondered WHY the fish is called Paddo i mean, it makes no sense, anyway that doesnt stop the perfect food and wine and fish and steak. yeah. woah i'm late for my date at A FISH CALLED PADDO. cya round chickdees.
Obviously a local fish and chip cafe but more suited to takeaway. Small, hot (no air con), noisy and with the overpowering waft of raw and cooked seafood. An unpleasant experience to dine in.
I like the concept of the upmarket take-away fish & chip shop however, they need to lower the prices! The bok choy is always amazing and I always find it tough to decide which seafood to have as they all look so good but I'm not willing to pay the prices they are charging. I love fish burgers and often have them from fish & chip shops however, theirs was the worst I have ever had. I won't go back again.
