I go here every few weeks for tasty, healthy food. Always have delicious marinades and reasonable portions, even though they look small! Great peppered marlin when it's available.

I love this place. Surprised so many people are complaining about price. If you want food this fresh and tasty, you've got to pay it. Simple as that. To the people below, who paid $120 for the three of them, they ordered most of the menu so what do they expect?

My girlfriend and I normally spend about $50 here on 2 portions of delicious marinaded fish, rice, bok choy and sauces, sometimes even a few garlic prawns. That's more than enough to fill us up. Sure it's quick, but very convenient and casual. If you want a three course meal served on white tablecloths, there are plenty of fish restaurants in Sydney where you can spend $300 and feel just as full. And at this place you can BYO for free. Order the marinaded fish, allocate yourself 45 minutes and enjoy this great place soon!

'WoW'.. from a few different angles is my reaction for this place.

Fast food kind of place with a 'restauranty' feel (mainly from price!). For the most part good food, but poor seating and tables, average service, and terribly expensive.

The fish was fantastic, done perfectly, especially the swordfish and the perch, the marinades for them are sensational too. BokChoi was pretty standard, the chips were quite ordinary, calamari was superb as were the garlic prawns, however, the dill prawns were not up to par. However, the worst by far was the corn, burnt on the outside and raw inside, I mean really... how hard is it to cook corn, plus they cover the corn with this black sauce which I would have rathered not have.

The tables outside wobble like crazy and more so after a few wines :P Whole place feels cramped and like you're in a noisy kindergarten class.

Service was friendly enough but to get your food on time you might as well stand at the counter and bring it to the table yourself.

The part of the night that stood out the most was the price, $120+ for 3 ppl to eat at what really is a take away fish and chips place is a bit much I feel. To give you an idea we ordered 3 main fish dishes (which are just fish, no chips included) 2 servings of bok choi, a serving of calamari, 6 garlic prawns, 6 dill prawns, and 2 servings of chips. How thats a $120 dollars I don't know.

I must say despite the price I may eat here again, the fish was just incredible, hence the '8' score despite the burnt raw corn and crappy chips.

Tuna here is great, the fish is fresh and that is why it's expensive.... compared to the gross fish shop across the road this place is great!

Hard to get a table at times, and meals aren't served together, but you can't expect restaurant service when it is a takeaway shop.

Visiting Australia from USA in Apr 2005, in Sydney area for 6 days. Ate here 3 nights. We expect to be in Australia again in spring 2008, will eat here again.

In favor: great food (remember to try the bok choy).

Against: relatively expensive for what it is (but not so much that I won't eat here again), tables may be hard to get, meal not served together.

I was hoping for restaurant quality for takeaway. Alas, I was disappointed. The Barramundi was overcooked, the calamari like rubber bands and the large chips well... small. All in all it was a "never going back" experience. They need more than upmarket decore to justify the prices.

I used to eat here alot when it opened. It was always over priced but always delicious with great service so was worth it. Seems the owner Trent has passed most of the responsibilites over and and now the service is awful! we ordered one kingfish lightly cooked, tuna sashimi, corn, salad. we got tuna lightly cooked, well done kingfish, corn and no salad. my partner nobley ate the overcooked fish, i got my original order (but i had to pay extra to have it sashimi'd can you believe) and we got a free bok choy - how that works out i have no idea!! everything was obviously served at different times and we got no apologies from the staff.

Disappointed at how the standards have dropped but the prices are still sky high. Great food but pick up your game guys, how it costs more for raw fish sliced than cooked and marinated is beyond me.

Went to A fish called coogee on good friday. What an amazing place. Best fish I have ever eaten. Do not know how anyone can call it a fish and chip shop and it is cheapest seafood restaurant on earth. Well done!

I like the concept of the upmarket take-away fish & chip shop however, they need to lower the prices! They are charging restaurant prices. The bok choy is always amazing and I always find it tough to decide which seafood to have as they all look so good but I'm not willing to pay the prices they are charging. The food always takes over 15 minutes to come out which is not worth it in a little fish & chip shop where you have to fight your way to a seat or even to the counter to order. I won't go back again.
