Sometimes I convince myself to return here because, let's face it, the seafood is pretty darn good. Then, I get the bill and remember why I'm not a fan. It's terribly overpriced and it's got little or no atmosphere (a dine in experience is always a fast one).
A Fish Called Paddo! What is going on? Have changed hands. Our fish was very over cooked and dried out. The staff seem to be new. It was very disappointing experience, definitely I do not come back anymore!
We've previously had positive experiences with this restaurant. However on our last visit we encountered a staff member who placed our order incorrectly with the chefs and we then had a very unpleasant experience with the management when it came to sorting out the order and the payment situation. This was an unexpected reaction given we were reasonable in our requests for reimbursement.
We won't be returning which is unfortunate given it is one of out local spots. In future we will be going to Sea Cow down the road which we highly recommend for both food and service quality.
I was raised on Seafood, this place is fantastic. The service was brilliant, really knowledgeable and friendly. The place was lots of small groups and still managed to smile the whole time. The food is as good as it gets, starter beautiful. We were greedy and had a 'middle' course of the swordfish and prawn - mm. My mouth is watering writing this. The view out of the large windows is a bit of a 'wow' for anyone who likes. I'll deffo be going back again and again.
Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. I think the staff that work there need to have a few attitude lessons as they so obviously didn't want to be there which is a shame as the food was good.
Was back at the Fish last week in five ways and thoroughly enjoyed the food yet again. The mixture of textures and flavours that these guys achieve with their simple concept is outstanding. One of my favourite places in the Eastern suburbs.
Mid-week, mid-winter, there was no problem getting a seat and making our order. The kitchen was extremely clean and the food very tasty - it's true that you should definitely give the bok choy and corn on the cob sides a try!
My only criticism is that there should be salt and pepper on every table, I had to get up and down about 4 times to grab all of the utensils I needed. There is no service whatsoever at A fish Called Paddo, it's sort of quality fast food with the price to match! (And be warned... cash only.)
What a pity this place has really deteriorated. It was a favourite but it must have changed hands. Our fish was very over cooked and dried out. The staff seem to be new, were inattentive when we wanted to place our order and were wearing dirty clothes. We won’t be back, after this very disappointing experience. Not to be repeated!
Had a great dinner here with a party of 9 people. We all shared some marinated/grilled calamari and octopus to start. Everyone loved their main, and we all had something different. We also shared 2 plates of salad, 2 plates of bok choy, several bowls of chips, and we all had the corn on the cob with Balinese sauce, super delicious! I ordered the trout marinated in basil and chilli, it was 10 out of 10!
The setting is ultra-casual which I love (it's great when you can wear thongs to dinner). The only complaint I have is they had ricotta cheese on the salad and they should use fetta instead, ricotta is too bland. They don't charge corkage which is great! It only cost $25 a head!! I would highly recommend this place, I can't wait to go back.
