I was quite happily surprised by this lovely restaurant. Have driven and walked past the hotel here for years and never really thought to ride the lift up to the top. The view is spectacular with nothing between the glass and the harbour. The food was very good and well presented. The service was excellent. The decor is quite "hotel", but for the price, service and great food worth the visit.
Have been here 4 times now and have always enjoyed it. The view is spectacular. I think it is one of Sydney's hidden gems. Just because it's a big hotel most people discount it. Great decor and elegant feel.
The food has always been great with nothing disappointing. We went one evening as a result of an advertisement of a particular menu that happened to have been incorrect i.e. last season's. Regardless the chef made it for us with no problem. The service has always been unpretentious also.
Went for hubby's birthday - was very nice and romantic. Our Entrees were spectacular! We really enjoyed them! Then our mains were nice, but average. We had a cheese platter for dessert but was very dissappointed. Maybe this is because as we had high hopes due to the sensational entree! Will give it another go!
I took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day, expecting great food and service with a view. We arrived to be warmly welcomed by staff and everything seemed great. But as the night progressed and the restaurant slowly full, the service slowly went downhill, to the point where we recieved our glass of wine after we had eaten our mains. Wait staff had no idea which table was which with random unordered drinks arriving to our table. It was Valentine's day but still these places should be ready and organised for busy times. Hence that is what you pay for when you dine at these places. However the food was flawless and view great.
I have only utilized this place as a bar, not visited its restaurant. The decor is nice enough and the views are quite pretty by night. My only complaint is that the elevator shaft (to the top floor) is shut at 10pm and the bar generally closes wthin an hour or so afterwards. This is disappointing for a bar with good night-time vibes and views in perhaps Sydney's most busy nightlife district. At least stay open until midnight or 1am, depending on crowd sizes.
I find the service here to be fairly ordinary - not objectionable but certainly nothing special and I don't like being 'looked down on' simply for being dressed "smart-casual" in a bar. I dress expensively but usually not in formal evening wear. Drink prices are a little steep here, as well, and this may explain why the bar is often fairly empty. There's lots of competition in the neighbouring area.
I have rated the food at 5 out of ten because I wouldn't know whether it's good or bad. I find drink prices too steep to spend an entire night here with friends or without. We usually stop in for a few enroute to somewhere else. Ambience is okay but can be adversely affected, depending on the service staff struck.
Decor and views are what are most pallatable about this place and the fact that it can be counted on to be sedate when you want to avoid the rowdier establishments in the William Street, Kings Cross, Oxford Street and East Sydney area. I would be willing to re-visit.
My group of friends (Group of 28) and i recently dined at the Level 25 restaurant on Thursday June 23rd 2005 and left unsatisfied with both the service and food.
There were many inconsistencies with the service provided for what you would expect from the restaurant. Here are my main complaints:
· The "everchanging" soup menu - We had asked the waitress which soup was on tonight, to which she replied 'French Onion'. To our dismay, when it arrived we had received Minestrone and without the sourdough bread as stated on menu.
· When pouring wine, we had noticed some dirty wine glasses. When we requested them to be exchanged, the waiter had brought another pair of dirty glasses.
· In the main meals served, a strand of hair was found in my dish. Now, you cannot simply replace a dish once one has lost their appetite (after seeing the hair) so you would think they would deduct that dish price from the total bill.
· When I approached the manager to deduct the price from the overall total he insulted me by saying "this is not a supermarket where you can take things back" and even began to nudge me from the desk.
Overall, despite most of the food being good, the experience to dine at the restaurant has left a bad first impression on most of us.
