For a second I thought I was in Thailand when I entered this restaurant! Food was yummy, had sizzling satay and coconut soup. No vegetarian options listed, but were happy to convert any dish we wanted into vegetarian. Watermelon shake comes recommended. Not the type of place you would come on your first date, but great for a yummy, authentic Thai meal.
Very cheap good food. I recommend the tom yum soup and beef salad, very interesting Thai/Laos flavours. Nice interior atmosphere and service is pleasant.
Usually pop in here for lunch after the gym a few times a month. Laksa is great value at $8. As are the Tom Yam and Tom Kar soups. Popular with take aways and definitely the best Thai in the area even better than most places in nearby Cabramatta.
This is probably the best Thai/Lao food you will find in the area. We found the food great but if you want to be served quickly, don't go on a Saturday night. When my partner and I went, it was very busy and staff seemed too rushed to even give us eye contact. We felt as though we had inconvenienced them by dining there. The meals took around 40 minutes which is a long time for Thai. Aside from that, other diners were very noisy and we couldn't hear each other talk.
When we were leaving one of the staff apologised for the delay and told us to come back on a week night as they aren't as busy. Would I go back? Maybe, if I happened to be in the area because the food is very good and great value.
The ox tongue here is great and there are some great local dishes to be tried here though none are outstanding. The environment is a cut above typical Thai/Lao restaurants. Still a good value place for Lao food fix.
We come here for our Lao food fix. Nothing else in the area comes close really. I love the chicken green curry. The ox tongue is gorgeous! The papaya salad is pretty good.
I regularly visit 12 Spices and I'm never disappointed. It has to be one of the best Thai/Lao restaurants in Sydney. Highly recommend the Lao Som Tum, Tiger Tear's, BBQ Ox Tongue and Bible Salad. The range in the menu will suit the tastes of both the first - timer and the Thai/Lao cuisine enthusiast.
