Top marks for 4th Floor Restaurant, Mooloolaba. Matthew Harangozo, the new owner and head chef of the 4th Floor Restaurant at Mooloolaba has done a fabulous job in restoring one of the Sunshine Coast's fine dining experiences.
My husband and I recently returned to this well appointed and stylish restaurant and we were very impressed with the magic combination of superb food, a well-appointed but relaxed feel to the place and excellent service. Menu presentations are most varied, appealing and offer a terrific range of dining choices, complemented by a good range of grills that would fit in well with the more casual preferences of some Sunshine Coast diners.
Service was outstanding, with everything attended to with the least of fuss and largely unnoticed. When asked, each of the waiters was able to provide detail information on the menu items, the day's specials and appropriate recommendations from an excellent wine list and other bar services. Prices for entrees ($16-$18) and mains ($27-$34) were most reasonable, considering the excellent attention to detail in preparation, presentation and the final taste experience. Nothing we have recently tasted comes close to matching the freshness and flavour of all dishes we tried on the night.
The price tag for the grills ranged from $27-$45, and all including generous servings of vegetables and sauces to accompany the superb meats and seafood servings. After being blown away by the fabulously fresh and flavoursome entrees and mains, we also enjoyed desserts which must be one of the Coast's little secrets but I suspect, not for long.
The atmosphere in this restaurant is relaxed yet well appointed, with white table linen, comfortable seating arrangements and a good view over the Mooloolaba foreshore. Lunch time dining here is unbeatable, with elevated and unobstructed views of the Mooloolaba area and its foreshore. On our way out, we bumped into three fellow diners from interstate, who told us that they were so impressed on a visit to the 4th Floor earlier in the week, that they had come back again to enjoy this "little gem" of a restaurant.
Just taken over by new owners it was outstanding - the best meal and service we have had since we arrived in Australia two months ago. Would recommend to anyone.
My boyfriend and I went here last year in July (so this review may be outdated, but I just checked the restaurant's website and the menu looks the same!). It was okaaaay... it was actually crazily overpriced for what it was and we didn't walk out happy. We shared the $75 red angus beef, expecting it to be something great, we ordered medium and it came out bleeding all over the place.
The entrees were lacklustre and the wine wasn't fantastic. The ambience also wasn't that nice, it felt cold and unwelcoming. We paid nearly $200 in all and weren't that happy. Especially when the night before we'd paid around $65 for an awesome Italian meal at a less stuffy restaurant. Not recommended compared to other restaurants in the locality.
