We returned to Maisies with good memories, we were greeted by an efficient enthusiastic waiter who organised an outside table for us and then took advantage of the lobster special - it was well cooked and good value. No complaints, memories intact.

Waitress was poorly trained, had a poor attitude, better suited for pub, her waitressing skills were abysmal and does not know how to serve wine properly, and in fact was quite rude to several customers, ie: we were greeted at the door with, "what do you want".

A steak with enough gristle to use as a toothpick. What a shocker, had cheaper and better pub food. Supermarket meat, I could source better. Trying to find a reason to enjoy the experience. Never again.

After starting with the Turkish dips, we had the specials of the day, which were a fish and prawn pie and a shank (choice of 1 or 2!). The serves were generous, the food nicely prepared and the service friendly and efficient. The apple and mango crumble dessert was good, too. The specials were good value, the rest of the menu seems reasonably priced.
Update July 2011 - Still a popular and reliable venue, and the service is good. Food certainly isn't flashy, but the lamb shank was as good as ever and prices aren’t too bad given the Gympie Street location.

The first thing I noticed about Maisie's was the smell which wasn't pleasant, a bit musty and wet. I saw some of the Seafood Platters been served and they looked amazing but my Mum and I didn't think we would be able to eat the whole lot so we settled for the Grilled Reef Fish with chips and salad...What a mistake. The fish was terrible and all signs pointed to it been microwaved. It was chewy, tasteless and had no evidence of it been "grilled" at all. It was also very over-priced for a below average meal. I definitely would not go back. Perhaps the steak or seafood platters are better but the Grilled Fish should certainly be avoided.

We had a meal with our daughter and son early in December last year and were very shocked and disappointed with the service and the food. I ordered a steak dish with rice, and I just could not touch the rice because it was rancid. When I complaint to the staff behind the counter, who seemed to be the senior staff, he was indifferent and did not apologise. All he said was I'll speak to the cook. We paid our bills, but in hindsight, I wished I had not. I will never go back to this restaurant again.

We recently choose to eat at Maisies for a birthday dinner and regretted that decision almost immediately. For starters we ordered a mixed grilled seafood plate and stuffed mushrooms. While the stuffed mushrooms were decent, the seafood was overcooked. For our main we ordered the T-bone steak and the whole lobster. The steak was tough and again the lobster overcooked. However, there were plenty of chips, possibly to make up for the poor cooking. The food is overpriced for what is being served. They proudly display awards and honourable mentions from two or more years ago. Obviously something has changed at this restaurant since winning these awards.
In addition, the wait staff and manager became unpleasant after there was a ‘misunderstanding’ about smoking at the table. When the booking was made we specifically asked if smoking was allowed at the table and were told yes by the manager. We were then told by the waiter that there was no smoking at the table. This would have been perfectly acceptable but for the rude reaction of both the waiter and the manager. Basically telling us that we were lying about being told we could smoke. The manager arrogantly informed us that it was common knowledge that no smoking was allowed. There were no signs posted and being tourist, one of us being from a different state and the other from a whole different country, how were we to know especially after asking. Along with the bad food and poor customer service this was a bad choice.

As reported before, this place is a bad trip back to the 70s. Food like my mother-in-law used to make, served in her style too. Nothing to like, and amazing that so many people eat here. Avoid.

Maisie's was certainly not the most inviting looking restaurant in Noosaville however we gave it the benefit of the doubt after seeing the crowd it attracted each night. What a mistake! The decor was so 1979, and the vinyl rickety chairs were great for my back. But aesthetics aside, what I could not get over was the fact that a steakhouse could not cook steaks. We both ordered our steaks medium which were burnt to a crisp and tough, and the mash potato was full of chunks, lathered in gravox and smeared on a cube of puff pastry. This restaurant is clearly geared towards those looking for quantity, not quality. Awful!

I recently visited Maisie's restaurant when on holidays in Noosa and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. All in all it was a wonderful evening. Maisie's was recommended to us by some local friends who said that we must try the steak and seafood combination meals that they offer. Beautiful waterfront setting and friendly waiters, I would definitely go back next holiday.
