I've been to Kepos about 6 times now, in parties of 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9. Their dinner food is uniformly excellent: I've tried almost everything on the menu. The spicing is imaginative, delicious and well-judged. The portion sizes are more than adequate, each individual fish is uniquely flavored and freshly and sensitively cooked. Felafel are made to order and are spectacular. For me the standout eggplant relish under the seated yellow tubs is worth crossing the bridge for, and the kibbeh is completely delectable.
The gnocchi with dliw cooked veal shoulder is a remarkable, hearty and complex dish, showing wonderfully interesting spicing. Each dish comes with its own special set of flavours and us worth exploring. The wait staff are friendly and helpful and the chef is a sweetie, totally committed to his restaurant and the enjoyment of his patrons. The value for money is good; don't over-order although it's hard not to. This place is going to become more and more popular, for good reason. Go there now!

Arrived for dinner with a group of work colleagues. The combination of bush foods and flavours with some more traditional cuisine is very clever, and most importantly, tastes sensational. Great combinations of Kangaroo and the more commonly available Barramundi, with bush spices and flavours - awesome. If you are already into bush foods, or are bored of the usual fare and want to try something different - this is the place for you. We will be back.

I came across this place on my way home from dance lessons. It's on a part of Cleveland where I was surprised to find a decent eating place but it looked enticing from the outside and was always crowded. Went there with some friends the other day and sampled some of the standards: 3 sisters rice paper rolls, dumplings, curry (and salad) main, and tofu main. It was all fine but not outstanding.
The curry and tofu were too stewy. We also sampled the Jaffe and Mango cake which turned out to be wonderful and worth their price (11.50 and 12.50). Not so with the curry (28.00) and the tofu (26.00). Without the cake my food quality rating would be a notch lower. So while I will go there again, I doubt it will be often ... There are a number of other Indian and Lebanese places to explore in the neighborhood ...

The team behind Cafe Ish sure know how to keep diners coming back and with their Milk Bar venture they brought back the old favourite Spicy Soft Shell Crab Omelette and added some addictive Chicken Wings and burgers to the menu as well as some seriously thick milkshakes - we could barely finish a Peanut Butter and Jelly shake between 4 people!

We had the all you can eat Tapas on a voucher so we decided to check this place out. Firstly, this place is a little obscure and not in the usual food haunts though it was fantastic. The casual style waiter was very friendly, efficient and smiley. Nothing was rushed, pushy or aggressive to get in or out. The food was yummy (chicken skewers and squid were declicious)... casual fitout and the place was semi busy on a sat night. Would go back basec on our experience.

The paella was superb. We ordered it when we made our reservation and they were happy to accommodate changes in the seafood items. The service was good and the decor fun. We'll be back for another paella.

This is a rather small corner cafe. I went for a table for two on Sunday morning at around 10.30am. It was already very busy and we waited for about 10 minutes, which was fine.
The service is quite good. As we were waiting, one of the waiters frequently came back and kept us updated on how much longer we had to wait. When seated, we were quickly provided water and menus. My menu accidentally had the lunch menu and when I wanted something off it, the chef was happy to make an exception and make it (despite it not being lunch time yet).
We ordered the pumpkin corn frittatas, which were really good! So soft and fresh. The side of sausages for $4.50 wasn't very worth it as they weren't great sausages and a bit small. The vegetable sandwich (from lunch menu) that I got was not that great. The bread was actually quite burnt so I couldn't eat half of it. The contents however were a good mix. We also got a flat white which was quite big.
The dishes are around $15-$20 and not massive servings but filling enough. The sandwich I would say is overpriced as it isn't that big and doesn't come with sides. The addons for breakfast are about $4.50 each and probably not worth it.
Ambience wise, the place is really nicely lit (a lot of natural sunlight) and comfortable chairs. Perfect for the morning/afternoon. I found the porcelains dolls decor rather creepy but that's just me personally.

I have been to this place a few times as it is just a minute away from my building. The service is incredibly bad. I have had to wait 30 minutes one time for some toast and coffee take away, and 45 minutes another time. You just can't make me people wait that long. I have walked by other times and seen lots of people waiting for their food, with the staff running around frantically.
I think the problem is that the manager has no idea what he is doing in terms of training the staff, and he doesn't hire enough people. On top of that it is the most expensive cafe in the Redfern-Darlington area. Given the quality of the food and service it is definitely not worth that!

Seriously good. We couldn't decide what to get and agreed to a share situation so we could taste more than one thing. Wow. The Shakshuka was really good and left until the end as it was hot, hot, hot. Very full of flavour and the eggs cooked perfectly. The coriander tahini was really good and sour. The star of the morning were the zucchini fritters with dill, salmon and poached eggs. The salmon was perfect. I was thinking it could be quite 'fishy' (I know, I know) but it was perfect. Coffee was great and the service very friendly and very efficient. The back room was a touch noisy but I think this was just due to a large group. We also had to sample a scroll on the way out (hear pig's trotters clicking as we leave). Love it and well worth a visit.

Not a lot of places where ¾ of the menu caters for gluten free. Whilst it is a vegan restaurant (I definitely enjoy my meat) I felt satisfied at the end of the meal. Quinoa is the main ingredient in most dishes and the spices, sauces, flavours and textures of each dish vary. I have been back 4 times now and have steadily worked my way through the menu. Favourites include the quinoa salad, three sisters fresh rolls and the crispy lemongrass tofu, accompanied by green tea and a gluten and dairy free coconut and mango cheesecake. I am not really a tofu fan normally but this stuff is amazing. You will need to book as it is very popular and a small restaurant, so walk ins don’t have much chance. There are two sittings in the evening, one around 6pm and one at 8pm. Whilst service can be a bit hit or miss, staff are friendly enough. I’ll be back and introducing others to the experience of nourishing vegan food.

The Woolpack hotel feels more like a restaurant than a typical inner city pub. Dinner for two on Saturday night was very nice, I ordered the 350 gram rib eye medium for $25 and my friend the 300 gram rump medium rare $18, both were cooked as requested. The pub is relaxed and comfortable. The staff were fast and friendly.

Great service here and a nice pub atmosphere. I only had 2 mini burgers, which really are mini but are okay for a $4 snack. The burgers are a bit bland but better with some habanero chilli sauce. A good range of beers on tap and the bar staff stops for a chat, which will ensure my return.

This very casual Thai restaurant in Redfern was no frills. You pay and order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. $10.90 for Pad see ew with beef, which was fresh and tasty. The staff were friendly, the food was fresh and the venue was clean. Cheap and cheerful.

Haven't even got there but following a recommendation from a friend went online to book but when I entered the date a message requested that I phone. A man answered & very brusquely & told me to email & hung up. I emailed the time, date, & number of people. I received a prompt response confirming the booking for "next week" & informing me there was no need for bookings during the day. I replied my booking was for 2 weeks ahead & dinner to which I received a response that they are not open for dinner on Wed & change my date. Very poor customer service! Does not encourage me to visit.

Brilliant... why didn't I hear about this place before? It is a easy walk from the station and was a good meeting place to catch up with an old friend. I guess Parking might be tricky as it a busy road. I had a Chick Club crepe and my friend had a Schmok and we loved them both but the OMG moment was the nutella and strawberry waffle with a good strong latte. The staff are friendly and chilled, with a good laid back feel decor and music. I thought the prices were very reasonable for what you get and it was very satisfying and filling.
