Mexican food is one of my favorites, so when we moved around the corner from this restaurant I was thrilled. On our first visit we ordered a pitcher of margarita's but asked if we could have it on the rocks opposed to frozen, unfortunately, we were told that they did not know how to make it.
Looking at the what the bar had to offer I explained in detail how to make one which on retrospect was my mistake. Lesson learned. Unlike most mexican restaurants we did not get chips and salsa when seated so decided to order ranchero dip. The salsa tasted like warm tomato sauce with melted cheese. I decided on enfrijoladas while my husband ordered a burrito with chicken.
No need to go into detail but I wondered if this was really meant to be a mexican restaurant. $22 for a burrito is down right wrong. Convincing my husband that we just ordered the wrong thing and that we should give it another chance, we did. I took the time to think what could really represent Mexican flavor, so we started this meal with guacamole, I did what I do when ever anything Mexican has no flavor and asked for salt, lime, hot sauce and side of coriander and proceeded to make quite a decent guacamole.
As entree's I decided on Enchililadas de venera y camarones y jaiba while I made my husband order fajitas de camarones, figuring if Mexican is going to charge a lot may as well get something of quality. Sorry to say very disappointing, and not worth the money. Has the chef ever been to Mexico? Cumin, coriander, chili, and lime juice can make magic and is the staple in any Mexican recipe.

Husband ordered meatballs served on rice for entree, they were the nicest thing besides the margarita that we had. I ordered nachos, I know I should not have ordered 'tex mex' style at an authentic mexican restaurant, they were such a disappointment.
For mains he had chicken fajitas, the 'hot plate' they came in ended up looking like a stew, it was served with lettuce, salsa, sour cream, guacomole (nice) and a whole jalapeno (nice). I ordered the tamales, masa (which is ground corn) steamed in a banana leaf topped with chicken mole, it was bland, it was served with rice, guacomole and black beans (flavourless).
I was so excited to find an authentic mexican place whilst on my travels but was disappointed.
