Asian dining at its absolute best. Peking duck, crab baked in the shell, baby asparagus in tissue thin batter with honey sauce. A trip to Perth is just not right without a visit here.

Good food with over-the-top, however, pleasant ambience, ok service but ,unfortunately, terrible value for your dollar. I must admit I have eaten equally as good and well presented meals from suburban asian eateries (in Sydney) for 1/4 of the price they will charge you at this place. Suggest that you plan to visit the casino 1st and build up a generous kitty prior to dining here.

The service lets this restaurant down. Time and time again, service is slow, sometimes a little abrupt but the food is usually great. On the last occasion this week the entree was a let down. The san choy bow was about half the portion it usually is, and I notice the price was higher, but it also had a burnt taste. The peking duck that we ordered was about to be prepared at our table when it was suddenly rush off (after a quick word between staff) to another table to serve them first. When it did arrive it was very good as was the kung po chicken. Service though is slow.

I went for a friend's 30th birthday. The atmosphere was very elegant and fancy for those looking for the "upmarket" Chinese restaurant. But the food was average, with a limited menu for a Chinese cuisine, and overpriced for the food. Presentation and service was very good and efficient.

Dinner here was a very pleasant surprise. I remember once going when Yu first opened. We had lunch and it was awful, mains had no taste, the fried ice cream was a mess of frozen sponge and had a greasy taste.

Yu in its current incarnation is fabulous. It's the ideal place for upmarket chinese. The decor is tasteful, the chairs comfortable and the staff are very attentive and obliging, taking our family photos, supplying takeaway boxes (for a main and later the chocolates...) etc etc.

We ended up selecting the $68 banquet (I think there are also 2 other versions costing $88 or so). It was excellent value, featuring many of the house specials and other dishes that were favourites of our family.

From memore: we had sang choy bow, peking duck, fried rice, their special sword fish, the beef fillet, dim sums as an entree and then dessert of mango pudding and then the chocolates (they were serious chocolates too, don't know the brand but I was impressed!).

I couldn't fault any of the food. We had a lovely evening and I will definitely be back again the next time I am in Perth. Well done!!
