We were recently in Perth on holidays from Sydney, it was about 730 on a Tuesday night and most eateries were closed-that's Perth for you. As everything is so overpriced we finally found the Oriel open, offering Pizza's for $20, which seemed reasonable compared to the prices of the other establishments which were still open. I did notice that the place was completely empty, but just presumed this was because "no one really goes out to eat on a weekday night".

We ordered a couple of Pizzas to share amongst the three of us. I was surprised that it took about forty minutes for the food to arrive considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. These Pizzas were probably the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten in my life...the base was unmistakably one those pizzas you get from the frozen section of the supermarket and it was so tuff that we almost broke our teeth eating it.

There was hardly any tomato paste and the toppings were all highly processed meats straight out of a can-there was something which resembled tofu and it wasn't till I tasted it that I realised it was Chicken. There was a chorizo sausage as we were informed they did not have pepperoni-it was so thick, tuff and rubbery that I thought it was plastic. The one plus was the lovely Irish waitress with brown hair, I felt sorry for her working at this place.

Service depends on who is serving you on the night. In 2008 service was awful, however, in our recent visit in 2009 the service was impeccable. I think they have really upped the ante on the service. We had coffee and cake and everything was nicely done. We did look at the other meals in other tables and it looked very good.

Worst place ever. Don't go there even if you are starving. You're better off at Hungry Jacks next door. Prices have gone up, menu has shrunk. Manager was unexcusable rude and vile.

We waited to be seated and the manager walked passed us many times (we didn't realise he was the manager then) before asking rudely how many seats we were after. They weren't even that busy!

He took our drink orders with the attitude of a man who rather we didn't turn up. Halfway through our coffees, one of my party made eye contact with him and he tapped his wrist at him signalling us to leave cos it's getting late! There were at least 5 other parties still there! The charm and appeal of the old Oriel's is well and truly dead.
