Over here, you order first then you wait at a table until the food is brought out. The wall behind the counter is adorned with a large menu-matrix that would have your brain furiously decoding until it finally clicks: choose a row (type of meat/veggie dish) then choose a column (varies in size of set). [I hope I got the row/column part right.]
Their set menus are reasonably priced and my personal favourite: unagi.
