My husband and I are vegan so it's not always easy to find restaurants (chefs) who are willing to get creative with meal options. The chef at Jane Brook is very accommodating indeed and has on more than three occasions made us delicious meals that go far beyond the standard "vege stack or risotto" other establishments usually offer. So if you have special dietary needs, a simple phone call before you arrive will allow chef to discuss your needs and work out a great meal for you.
Sometimes the food has been a bit too salty but hey, you only need to let them know so they can get it right next time. Apart from us vegans, we have been to this restaurant several times with family and friends (ordering from regular menu) and I have never heard a complaint yet. We love The Brook, in fact we're planning to eat there today. Perth vegans, try this place out!

I live locally to this restaurant and have eaten here 3 times now. The first time the food was tasteless, the second time I had the sausages which while they were tasty, were undercooked and still pink in the middle. We went there again last night and my steak that I had requested medium was well done. One thing in common that I have found on each visit is how long we have had to wait for our meals!
Last night we waited a good hour and had children with us which were starving by 8 pm! You wonder how the meals are taking so long when they certainly don't look very busy! The waitress' were nice enough but just getting a drink took a good 10 minutes and our meals came out separately, it's a shame as it's a lovely little restaurant and really nice and local but we certainly won't be going back there.

My husband and I decided to take the kids out for a Sunday breakfast. I was anticipating a lovely morning feed, with coffee to start the day off. The ambience was lovely, for a hot morning the trees really gave a cool shade outside. Unfortunately, that is where our good experience ended.
The service was mediocre, but the young lass that served us was pleasant. I asked the waitress if she could check if the rosti with egg and smoked salmon had gluten in it (being intolerant), she promptly returned and said it could be done without flour, so yes. I ordered a plate of pancakes with maple syrup for the kids and my husband had the bacon and eggs. Coffees came, and were served in fantastic mugs.
Our orders came out after a while, I was first struck by the leathery texture of the kids pancakes when I tried to cut them up for them. I couldn't taste them, because of said gluten intolerance, but my husband tried some and said they were very heavy and stodgy. My food was cold, eggs and rostis included. The rostis were absolutely tasteless, I don't even think the potato's were cooked with salt.
Regardless of the fact that flour was not added (which I was grateful), there was a complete absence of taste! My meal (gluten-less) was also served with 2 slices of white bread toasted on the side of the plate... hmmm. My husband's meal was also served luke warm, at best. This fact really detracted from his meal. We left feeling very disappointed. We live locally to the restaurant and really hoped to support a local business, but I don't think we would go back. There were, however, many good comments left in the guest book. Perhaps, we got The Brook on a bad morning? Perhaps.

Living locally in the area, this was a restaurant that we wanted to try out. I booked for our anniversary and asked for a romantic table position and was seated closest table to the toilets! The average wine list was limited although not too badly priced. The entree's were quite nice, however, the mains were less than expected quality, likened to Pub Tucker. My husband had honey chilli chicken that tasted like it was a Coles brand "Chicken Tonight" sauce in a jar.
I selected the fish of the day which apparently was Dori, however, it tasted more like snapper which had been frozen for quite some time and was tasteless. To finish off we had coffee (Affogato) which was burnt and bitter. To say we will be rushing back is a stretch, to say we will be back at all is very unlikely. Come on hills, lift your game.

The best beef I have had in a very long time. Can't wait to come back in the spring.

We absolutely loved everything about the restaurant. It has old country charm to the place, but modern italian cuisine. I know The Brook Restaurant is only new and still has some things to iron out, but we will definitely be back again. Will also tell all our friends. Can't wait for my husband to take me out for dinner one night.
