My husband and I are from Sydney and were entertaining clients at Ishka mid week. The restaurant wasn't overly busy but the service was appalling. We had booked and were seated promptly but it was another 15 minutes before we were offered a drink (had to beg for a wine list).

The food was average and extremely overpriced. No main we had was worth anything near $44 price. The final disappoinment was the cappuccino, probably the worst coffee I have had in a fine dining establishment. This was my husband's second visit to Ishka and, unfortunately, it will be our last.

We went to this restaurant for my birthday last week, and were Hugely disappointed because of the poor service! It started well, we arrived by 7.30 and ordered, however, thats when the service stopped. We didn't get our mains until after 9.15, and that was only after we dragged a girl cleaning the surrounding tables over to us and asked her to check on our meals.

Finding someone to ask about our meals was really tricky, seems our table was in some kind of service black spot. We were told that they had lost our order, then 2 minutes later they said the food was coming out and that it hadn't really been that long a wait. The most frustrating part was that after our meals came out at after 9.15 pm, we were offered one complimentary meal, which sounded great.

But, then when we went to the counter to pay, we were told that because there was nothing wrong with the food (because we ate it), then they cannot give it to us for free, but instead can offer us a free tea or coffee. Overall, I would say that the food was good (not great for the price), nice atmosphere and great location, but really really poor service, the kind that ruins even the best food.

My husband and I went to Ishka a few weekends ago on a busy saturday night, as we had no booking we were asked to sit in the bar until a table was ready, which was completely fine with us, and as soon as a table was ready the restaurant manager (Grant) sought us out and sat us instantly. My husband and I shared the pork belly and scallop dumplings, both are to die for followed by the ocean trout, kangaroo and a couple of sides. Whilst the venue is not cheap, our food was tasty.

The wine list is fairly exstensive we chose the classic cloudy bay sauv. I would definitely revisit Ishka and definitely with a booking. Oh and I forgot to mention the service from the lovely ladies and Grant was fantastic.
