Food was nice (apart from getting 1 well done steak after ordering medium rare) arrived together, service was mostly friendly but the billing system can be very misleading! Driving past the Café you see a big sign saying ‘Kids Eat Free’, what you don’t see then is the small print, ‘conditions apply’, written underneath (our fault for not noticing of course).

When paying our 2 bills for 8 adults and 2 children we were told we could not claim both the 25% Frequent Diners discount and get the free childs meals (the conditions) as you had to have 2 full paying adults in order to claim it. We asked to have 2 adults meals put on a separate bill with the 2 childs meals (and pay full price) and have a separate bill for the remaining 6 adults so we could claim the 25% discount.

We were then told you can’t split bills (more conditions) as the sign says on the counter when its time to pay. The bills were calculated by who sat at which table (although 2 tables were pushed together by the staff). If we had been told that by the café pushing 2 tables together meant ‘mandatory 2 bills’ and discounts don’t apply when you have ‘free’ kids meals we would have done things differently.

Anyway, after arguing with the teenage senior staff for half an hour we managed to get the bills split differently (still got ripped off with the kids meals paying $8.95 each. Children aged 6 yrs and the other 18 mths!). Had we not been misled, the kids would have been given something small to eat, after all the 18 month old played with more of the food than she ate.

The friends we were with said they can shove their loyalty cards as they won't be coming back again. Sorry Hogs but you don’t always get a second chance. Moral is: no such thing as a free dinner.

Been twice now a family of four, both times the food has been only luke warm, which was very disapointing. The variety of food on the menu is good, and it is presented well on the plate, the service is quite quick and friendlly. Just need to get the food hotter.
